A Request for Proposal

Abstract

Abstract: The purpose of the proposed experiment is to evaluate the validity of the fundamental assumption that space-time is a human being’s own (characteristic of human being). The recent highlight, of cognitive properties of humans under situation of specific interactions with the outside world, allows to think that with this experiment we will be able to identify the reasons for some specific quantum mechanics oddities. 7 quotations

Unice cogito, ergo quantum sum (I think uniquely, therefore I am quantum mechanical)

Karl Svozil

If the unitary quantum mechanical state evolution is universally valid, quantized systems evolve uniformly, deterministically, and reversible; that is, one-to-one. Hence, what is considered an irreversible measurement might be a purely subjective, conventional, and convenient abstraction of the situation that, although in principal totally reversible, for all practical purposes (fapp), measurements cannot be undone. If this is granted, then Schroedinger's "quantum jellification" arises because of the inevitability of the physical co-existence of classically mutually exclusive states through quantum coherence. It is suggested to take the rather unique human cognitive and perceptive experience as evidence that, at least at the level of apperception, quantum jellification does not exist at all. Otherwise the problems of how to characterize the ambivalence of perception and cognition induced by quantum coherence on a fundamental level of cognition, and why this ambivalence appears to be rather weak and can be ignored fapp, remain unsolved.

Concept of Absolutism - Comments on the Theory of Relativity and Quantum Mechanism

Luoping Zhang

Abstract After reviewed the problems in science and the folk that were difficult to be scientifically explained by contemporary physics, the reason is analyzed and found that contemporary physics is based on the human vision and cognition to think the universe, not based on nature. Then the concept of Absolutism is proposed based on nature itself and its intrinsic property, absorbed folk experience and lessons as well as religious thoughts, and criticized the Theory of Relativity and Quantum Mechanism. It includes three axioms and four corollaries to set up core concept, and establish the absoluteness of the material world. As an original concept of physics, the concept of Absolutism will deliver a revolutionary concept and thinking style for contemporary physics, and give contemporary physics a jolt after the Theory of Relativity and Quantum Mechanism have been proposed one hundred years.

Quantum logics in cognition: A proposal

José Alejandro Fernández Cuesta, Michele Piazzai, Umberto Rivieccio

Abstract Quantum logics are non-classical logics defined from the mathematical formalism of quantum mechanics. While they are conventionally used to model inferential processes in physics, their scope of application is potentially much broader. We argue that quantum logics can serve as a framework to model human cognition, as their semantics seem able to capture not only how people make inferences about quantum mechanics, but also how they reason in general. We begin by defining quantum logics from an algebraic perspective in a classical first-order setting. Next, we present findings from cognitive science that suggest these logics are apt to characterize human reasoning. We then consider how such a connection between quantum logics and cognition contributes to longstanding philosophical debates about the epistemological status of logic and the problem of adoption. Finally, we discuss how cognitive applications of quantum logics could advance our understanding of human psychology and even quantum foundations.
