The Temporal Causality Barrier

Uday Patil

This paper presents a conceptual and analytical investigation into the limits of temporal access through the combined perspectives of causality, relativity, quantum mechanics, thermodynamics, and information theory. The work introduces the concept of the “Temporal Causality Barrier,” a selective and logically grounded framework that distinguishes between passive temporal observation and active temporal intervention. The paper argues that passive observation of the past is both physically permissible and continuously occurring through ordinary causal processes such as light propagation, memory, historical records, and astronomical observation. In contrast, active intervention into the past including backward information transfer, causal alteration of previous events, and closed causal loops is shown to generate logical contradictions and violations of causal consistency. The analysis critically examines major theoretical approaches related to time travel and retrocausality, including closed timelike curves, Novikov’s self-consistency principle, Deutsch’s quantum closed timelike curve model, and the two-state vector formalism in quantum mechanics. The paper argues that while some interpretations may mathematically describe retrocausal correlations, none currently provide an operational mechanism for backward information transmission without encountering paradoxes or information-theoretic inconsistencies. The framework further connects the causal structure of spacetime with the thermodynamic arrow of time, emphasizing the role of entropy, light cone geometry, and information propagation in preserving temporal coherence. The work also explores broader philosophical implications concerning the nature of time, consciousness, causality, and agency within a causally structured universe. Rather than proposing a new physical force or replacing existing theories, this paper provides a logically structured analysis of why temporal observation is compatible with known physics while active temporal intervention remains fundamentally constrained by both physical law and logical consistency.

Pocket Cosmology: A Conceptual Framework for Existence, Stability, and the Quantum-Classical Boundary

Adrian Moen

A conceptual framework addressing three foundational questions: why something exists rather than nothing, why the universe appears stable and law-governed, and why quantum mechanics and general relativity appear to describe different realities. The framework proposes that ultimate reality has structure but is not bound by deterministic causal relations — events need not follow from prior states — and that our universe is a region of local coherence within this field, where such causal relations hold locally. The proposal is placed in conceptual dialogue with KAM theory (Kolmogorov–Arnold–Moser, 1954), invoked not as a formal model but as an existence proof that the concept of "islands of order within disorder" is mathematically coherent. The central implication is that the tension between quantum mechanics and general relativity may be a boundary phenomenon rather than a unification problem. Constructed without prior academic knowledge of the referenced work; correspondences identified after the fact. Version note: This revision (17 April 2026) substantially restructures the argument of the original draft (14 April 2026). Key changes: (1) the characterization of ultimate reality is reformulated from "containing both logic and chaos" to "not bound by deterministic causal relation," as logic and illogic require each other as contrast and cannot serve as distinct modes; (2) the KAM connection is clarified as conceptual reference rather than formal mapping; (3) the "personal implication" section on pattern identity and recurrence has been removed as structurally separate from the core framework; (4) open problems — quantum phenomena observed throughout macroscopic regimes, the absence of a derivation connecting to the decoherence program, and the distinction between shared location and shared theory with Mnaymneh (arXiv:2508.00044) — are now explicitly flagged rather than elided.

Destroying the Multiverse: Entropy Mechanics in Causal Diamonds

Bryce Weiner

We present a geometric framework that provides a pathway toward resolving quantum measurement through thermodynamic entropy mechanics within causal diamond structures. Entropy mechanics demonstrates that quantum measurement represents the conversion of coherent entropy states (accessible quantum information) into decoherent entropy states (thermodynamically inaccessible information) at precise spacetime boundaries defined by light cone intersections. The universal Quantum-Thermodynamic Entropy Partition (QTEP) ratio Scoh/|Sdecoh| ≈ 2.257 emerges from von Neumann entropy analysis and is characterized by the fundamental information processing rate γ governing all quantum-to-classical transitions without requiring additional empirical input beyond standard quantum mechanics. We add definition to fundamental information units: ebits (entanglement bits) and obits (observational bits), resolving dimensional inconsistencies between thermodynamic entropy and discrete information content. Crucially, causal diamond geometry - the intersection of future and past light cones - provides calculable spacetime boundaries where entropy conversion occurs, with the universal rate γ serving as the fundamental geodesic parameter governing all timelike paths. This architecture features holographic screens of area A(p, q) encoding information and 4-volumes V(p, q) constraining processing capacity. Entropy mechanics offers a substantive refutation of the Many Worlds Interpretation by demonstrating that quantum measurement creates definite outcomes through negentropy generation rather than reality multiplication. The single causal diamond structure provides sufficient geometric and thermodynamic resources for complete energy and information conservation. Gravity emerges as bulk manifestation of information processing optimization on holographic screens, while black holes represent extreme coherent entropy organizations. This framework provides concrete, testable predictions grounded in geometric andthermodynamic principles, with the fundamental insight that quantum measurement dynamics are intrinsically connected to spacetime structure through the universal information processing rate γ governing timelike geodesics.
