Analysis of the possibility to amplify an RF signal with a superconducting quantum interference filter

A laboratory prototype RF amplifier for the frequency range 1–10 GHz is designed, created, and tested. The device is based on high-temperature superconducting quantum interference filters (SQUIFs) and the technology of bicrystalline substrates. The main characteristics of the prototype SQUIF amplifier are numerically simulated and measured.

Nature of the microwave response of a YBaCuO Josephson junction on a bicrystalline substrate

Andrey P. Lipatov, A. Verevkin, И.И. Венгрус +1 more

The response of YBaCuO Josephson junctions on a bicrystalline substrate to the action of microwave radiation is found to contain, besides the Josephson response, a contribution associated with the tunneling of quasiparticles through channels formed by localized states in the region of the Josephson junction. It is shown that this contribution is associated with an increase in the conduction through these channels under the action of the radiation on the junction.

Determination of circuit parameters in a 10‐GHz microstrip RF squid

Charles M. Jackson, R. Hu, John F. Burch

Abstract We have fabricated and tested RF SQUIDS made of Nb and YBa2Cu3O7 (YBCO), a high‐temperature superconductor, at 10 GHz using TE011 mode cavities and HTS microstrip resonators. Devices were screened at 27 MHz, and subsequently evaluated at 10 GHz. The SQUID circuit parameters, k2Q and β, were determined at different temperatures.
