Abstract

In this paper, all-optical scheme for designing some polarization encoded quaternary logic gates (quaternary min and quaternary delta literal) with the help of Mach Zender interferometric (MZI) switch have been discussed. With the demanding scenario of communication and optical computing technology the quadruple valued logic systems are the most important ones in the multi valued logic system. In order to overcome the electronic bottlenecks and fully exploit the advantages of optics, multi valued logic (MVL) is explore here for data communication system.

Design of all optical reversible logic gates

Kuki Bordoloi, T. Theresal, Shanthi Prince

Considering the benefits of Quantum and Optics, if the logic gates in the quantum field and electronic structure are implemented using optical elements, then it will be benefited from advantages of Quantum and design, and these processing circuits can be used in optical computing and quantum computing, genetic processes, and other useful nanotechnology applications. Advantages of reversible logic systems and circuits have drawn a significant interest in recent years as a promising computing paradigm having application in low power CMOS, quantum computing, nanotechnology, and optical computing. In this study, we have introduced reversible optical Double Feynman gate using optical Mach-Zehnder interferometer (MZI) switches with new design. The proposed optical Double Feynman gate will be optical logic gate and reversible. As the proposed gate is a complete one, it can implement all the MZI-based quantum circuits.

Quaternary Galois field adder based all-optical multivalued logic circuits

Tanay Chattopadhyay, Chinmoy Taraphdar, Jitendra Nath Roy

Galois field (GF) algebraic expressions have been found to be promising choices for reversible and quantum implementation of multivalued logic. For the first time to our knowledge, we developed GF(4) adder multivalued (four valued) logic circuits in an all-optical domain. The principle and possibilities of an all-optical GF(4) adder circuit are described. The theoretical model is presented and verified through numerical simulation. The quaternary inverter, successor, clockwise cycle, and counterclockwise cycle gates are proposed with the help of the all-optical GF(4) adder circuit. In this scheme different quaternary logical states are represented by different polarized light. A terahertz optical asymmetric demultiplexer interferometric switch plays an important role in this scheme.

Reversible Realization of Quaternary Decoder, Multiplexer, and Demultiplexer Circuits

Mozammel H. A. Khan

Quaternary logic is very suitable for encoded realization of binary logic functions by grouping 2-bits together into quaternary digits. This sort of quaternary encoded reversible realization of binary logic function requires half times input/output lines than the original binary reversible realization. Quaternary decoder, multiplexer, and demultiplexer are very important building blocks of quaternary digital systems. In this paper, we show reversible realization of these circuits using quaternary reversible gates like quaternary shift gates (QSG), quaternary controlled shift gates (QCSG), and quaternary Toffoli gates (QTG). We also show the realization of multi-digit QCSG and QTG using QSG and QCSG, which are realizable using liquid ion-trap quantum technology and other reversible technologies.

An All-Optical System for Implementing Integrated Hadamard-Pauli Quantum Logic

Baishali Sarkar, Sourangshu Mukhopadhyay

Abstract In quantum optical computing both of Pauli X, Y, Z gates and Hadamard gate are essential and important issues. Several proposals are given for addressing these issues. In this paper, the authors propose polarization encoded all-optical schemes which implement Hadamard logic, Pauli X, Pauli Y and Pauli Z gates followed by Hadamard logic gate separately. An integrated scheme is also proposed where three Pauli gates (X, Y and Z) followed by a single Hadamard gate is developed using polarization encoding mechanism. The outputs of the proposed systems follow the truth tables of the respective operations exactly. As the systems use the polarization character of light, so fully quantum optical operations with superfast speed are achieved.

Protected coding in optical line based on multiple-valued logic

A. L. Antipov, Alexey Yu. Bykovsky, Nikolay A. Vasiliev +1 more

Multiple-valued logic (MVL) formalism is shown to be an effective mean to work with secret keys and to check data modification in an optical data transfer channel. Such wireless data lines are needed for multiagent robotic systems including a group of mobile robots. In order to generate secret keys by means of open optical line one can choose beforehand an arbitrary MVL function, calculate its minimized logic term and afterwards calculate a huge number of different fragments of MVL function to realize secret MVL keys. The proposed method enlarges and complements the earlier proposed effective method of MVL secret coding tables for systems with high (more than 50) number of logic levels. Some problems of correct MVL function generation are discussed. MVL check functions method is also proposed to indicate data modification in messages. MVL non-quantum coding methods can be integrated with low-throughput quantum optics data channels for additional crypto protection.

Mach-Zehnder interferometer based design of all optical reversible binary adder

Saurabh Kotiyal, Himanshu Thapliyal, Nagarajan Ranganathan

In recent years reversible logic has emerged as a promising computing model for applications in dissipation less optical computing, low power CMOS, quantum computing, etc. In reversible circuits there exist a one-to-one mapping between the inputs and the outputs resulting in no loss of information. Researchers have implemented reversible logic gates in optical computing domain as it can provide high speed and low energy requirement along with easy fabrication at the chip level [1]. The all optical implementation of reversible gates are based on semiconductor optical amplifier (SOA) based Mach-Zehnder interferometer (MZI) due to its significant advantages such as high speed, low power, fast switching time and ease in fabrication. In this work we present the all optical implementation of an n bit reversible ripple carry adder for the first time in literature. The all optical reversible adder design is based on two new optical reversible gates referred as optical reversible gate I (ORG-I) and optical reversible gate II (ORG-II) and the existing all optical Feynman gate. The two new reversible gates ORG-I and ORGI-I are proposed as they can implement a reversible adder with reduced optical cost which is the measure of number of MZIs switches and the propagation delay, and with zero overhead in terms of number of ancilla inputs and the garbage outputs. The proposed all optical reversible adder design based on the ORG-I and ORG-II reversible gates are compared and shown to be better than the other existing designs of reversible adder proposed in non-optical domain in terms of number of MZIs, delay, number of ancilla inputs and the garbage outputs. The proposed all optical reversible ripple carry adder will be a key component of an all optical reversible ALU that can be applied in a wide variety of optical signal processing applications.
