Abstract

From the energy spectrum of Z2 symmetric quantum chain with periodic boundary condition, we calculated the central charge and the anomalous scale dimensions of the systems. The results are compatible with the predicfion of the conformal field theory.

CRITICAL RSOS MODELS AND CONFORMAL FIELD THEORY

Vladimir V. Bazhanov, Nicolai Reshetikhin

The eigenvalues of the transfer matrix of the generalized RSOS model are exactly calculated. From the consideration of the thermodynamics of the quantum system on the one-dimensional chain connected with the RSOS model, we calculate the central charges of the effective conformal field theories describing the critical behavior of the model in different regimes.

2002 Spectrum of a duality–twisted Ising quantum chain

Uwe Grimm

Abstract. The Ising quantum chain with a peculiar twisted boundary condition is considered. This boundary condition, first introduced in the framework of the spin-1/2 XXZ Heisenberg quantum chain, is related to the duality transformation, which becomes a symmetry of the model at the critical point. Thus, at the critical point, the Ising quantum chain with the duality-twisted boundary is translationally invariant, similar as in the case of the usual periodic or antiperiodic boundary conditions. The complete energy spectrum of the Ising quantum chain is calculated analytically for finite systems, and the conformal properties of the scaling limit are investigated. This provides an explicit example of a conformal twisted boundary condition and a corresponding generalised twisted partition function. Emergence of conformal symmetry in quantum spin chains: Antiperiodic boundary conditions and supersymmetry

Yijian Zou, Guifré Vidal

Universal properties of a critical quantum spin chain are encoded in the underlying conformal field theory (CFT). This underlying CFT is fully characterized by its conformal data. We propose a method to extract the conformal data from a critical quantum spin chain with both periodic and antiperiodic boundary conditions (PBC and APBC) based on low-energy eigenstates, generalizing previous work on spin chains with only PBC. First, scaling dimensions and conformal spins are extracted from the energies and momenta of the eigenstates. Second, the Koo-Saleur formula of lattice Virasoro generators is generalized to APBC and used to identify conformal towers. Third, local and string operators on the lattice are identified with CFT operators with PBC and APBC, respectively. Finally, operator product expansion coefficients are extracted by computing matrix elements of lattice primary operators in the low-energy subspaces with PBC and APBC. To go beyond exact diagonalization, tensor network methods based on periodic uniform matrix product states are used. We illustrate our approach with critical and tricritical Ising quantum spin chains. In the latter case, we propose lattice operators that correspond to super-Virasoro generators and verify their action on low-energy eigenstates. In this way, we explore the emergence of superconformal symmetry in the quantum spin chain.

Quantum Critical Spin-2 Chain with Emergent SU(3) Symmetry

Pochung Chen, Zhi-Long Xue, Ian P. McCulloch +3 more

We study the quantum critical phase of an SU(2) symmetric spin-2 chain obtained from spin-2 bosons in a one-dimensional lattice. We obtain the scaling of the finite-size energies and entanglement entropy by exact diagonalization and density-matrix renormalization group methods. From the numerical results of the energy spectra, central charge, and scaling dimension we identify the conformal field theory describing the whole critical phase to be the SU(3)_{1} Wess-Zumino-Witten model. We find that, while the Hamiltonian is only SU(2) invariant, in this critical phase there is an emergent SU(3) symmetry in the thermodynamic limit.

Conformal invariance and the Lanczos method studies of a spinning quantum chain

Haiyan Zhang, Hongru Ma, Xu Bo-wei

The low-lying energy spectrum of a spinning quantum chain in the critical region is calculated by using Lanczos method. According to conformal theory, the anomalous dimensions ? and the normalising factor ? are obtained from the energy spectrum. Also a simple derivation of the field theory of the model is given.

Finite-size corrections to entanglement in quantum critical systems

Francisco Castilho Alcaraz, M. S. Sarandy

We analyze the finite-size corrections to entanglement in quantum critical systems. By using conformal symmetry and density functional theory, we discuss the structure of the finite-size contributions to a general measure of ground state entanglement, which are ruled by the central charge of the underlying conformal field theory. More generally, we show that all conformal towers formed by an infinite number of excited states (as the size of the system $L\ensuremath{\rightarrow}\ensuremath{\infty}$) exhibit a unique pattern of entanglement, which differ only at leading order ${(1∕L)}^{2}$. In this case, entanglement is also shown to obey a universal structure, given by the anomalous dimensions of the primary operators of the theory. As an illustration, we discuss the behavior of pairwise entanglement for the eigenspectrum of the spin-$1∕2$ $XXZ$ chain with an arbitrary length $L$ for both periodic and twisted boundary conditions.
