Abstract

The higher-order squeezing and quasiprobability distribution function of even and odd coherent states are studied in this paper. The results show that the properties of higher-order squeezing of the two states exclude each other, and characteristic functions and Wigner functions are all not gaussian. Particularly, Wigner functions can not be perseved positive define. Quasiprobability density (QPD) of the two states are neither "elliptic" nor "crescent", but are two-petal-like shape, which shows that squeezing type can not be represented by the QPD figure of a state.

Non-classical Properties of Even and Odd Coherent States

Christopher C. Gerry

We present a detailed discussion of even and odd coherent states defined as eigenstates of the single mode two-photon annihilation operator a 2. We study the non-classical properties such as squeezing, higher-order squeezing, and photon antibunching. Also discussed are the various quantum quasiprobability distributions, namely the P function, which is shown to be highly singular, the Q function, and the Wigner, which can take on negative values for these states. Finally, we present a discussion of a possible mechanism for the generation of such states based on the competition between parametric amplification and the incoherent losses from two-photon resonant absorption.

ENTROPIC SQUEEZING PROPERTIES OF EVEN AND ODD COHERENT STATES

Yongping Li, Yun‐Jie Xia

The position and momentum entropic squeezing of even and odd coherent states are studied. The relations between the two entropic squeezings and the two quadrature components squeezing are also discussed. The results show that even and odd coherent state exhibits both position and momentum entropic squeezing, which is different from the standard deviations squeezing.

Higher-order squeezing properties of two-mode squeezed states

Jiaxin Gong, P. K. Aravind

We have investigated the properties of two-mode squeezed states of various kinds: squeezed coherent states, squeezed number states, squeezed thermal states, and squeezed number-thermal states. The properties studied include characteristic functions, photon number distributions, and high-order moments. We show that a two-mode squeezed coherent state appears in either of its modes as a Glauber-Lachs superposition of a coherent signal with thermal noise; this generalizes the well-known thermofield result that a two-mode squeezed vacuum state behaves like a pure thermal state in either of its modes. We investigate the higher-order squeezing (in the sense of Hong and Mandel) of squeezed coherent-thermal and squeezed number-thermal states. Although the squeezing is found to increase with order in both cases, there are nevertheless interesting differences that can be traced to the fact that the Wigner function has a Gaussian form for the former but not for the latter.

Statistical Properties of the Even Binomial State

M. Sebawe Abdalla, M. H. Mahran, A.‐S. F. Obada

In this paper we introduce the even binomal state, which interpolates between the even number state and the even coherent state. We consider the effect of this state on the Glauber second order correlation function. Both squeezing phenomena are discussed, i.e., normal squeezing and amplitude squared squeezing. The quasiprobability distribution functions (Wigner function and Q function) for such a state are also examined.

HIGHER POWER SQUEEZING EFFECTS FOR ODD AND EVEN q-COHERENT STATES

WANG ZHONG-QING, 石油大学应用物理系,东营257061

The higher power squeezing effects of photon field for odd and even q coherent states have been studied. We find that the squeezing effects are influenced by the values of parameter q, and the odd and even q-deformed coherent states can exhibit odd power squeezing effect but no even power squeezing effect when parameter q is taken values departure from 1 greatly, and these squeezing characteristics are different from those of the conventional odd and even coherent states.

Quantum Properties of Two-Mode Squeezed Even and Odd Coherent States

Jing Zhang, Wei Wu, Meng Shao-ying

Two new types of quantum states are constructed by applying the operator s (ξ) = exp (ξ* ab −ξ a † b † ) on the two-mode even and odd coherent states. The mathematical and quantum statistical properties of such states are investigated. Various nonclassical features of these states, such as squeezing properties, the inter-mode photon bunching, and the violation of Cauchy–Schwarz inequality, are discussed. The Wigner function in these states are studied in detail.
