Abstract

Abstract Here we propose a new entanglement concentration protocol (ECP) for unknown less-entangled states on separate nitrogen-vacancy (NV) centers. The protocol exploits the error-detected entanglement swapping based on cavity quantum electrodynamics, which is more robust and practical than previous ECPs for NV centers. We present in detail the principle and the advantages of the ECP. Also, the performance of the protocol with current experimental parameters is discussed. We believe that the ECP could provide a promising building block for solid-state quantum repeaters and quantum networks in the future.

Multipartite entanglement concentration for nitrogen-vacancy center and microtoroidal resonator system

Shengkai Yu

We describe a high efcient entanglement concentration protocol(ECP) for multi-particle less-entangled nitrogen-vacancy(N-V)center and microtoroidal resonator system. In the ECP, we only require one pair of less-entangled state, two auxiliary N-V center in microcavities and some single photons. After the photon passing through the microcavity, by measuring the polarization of the photon,a maximally entangled W state can be obtained with some success probability. This ECP does not need to destroy the solid qubit, which makes it more feasible. Moreover, by resorting to more single photons, it can be repeated to reach a high success probability. These features make this ECP useful in current long-distance quantum communications.

Concentration of entangled nitrogen-vacancy centers in decoherence free subspace

Chuan Xi Wang, Tie-Jun Wang, Yong Zhang +2 more

Exploiting the input-output process of low-Q cavities confining nitrogen-vacancy centers, we present an efficient entanglement concentration protocol on electron spin state in decoherence free subspace. Less entangled state can be concentrated to maximally entangled state with the assistance of single photon detection. With its robustness and scalability, the present protocol is immune to dephasing and can be further applied to quantum repeaters and distributed quantum computation.

Concentration on partially entangled W-class states on nitrogen-vacancy centers assisted by microresonator

Cong Cao, Tie-Jun Wang, Ru Zhang +1 more

We propose an entanglement concentration protocol (ECP) for spatially separated negatively charged nitrogen-vacancy (N-V) centers in a partially entangled W state, resorting to a hybrid quantum circuit and some ancillary single photons. The hybrid quantum circuit is composed of a single N-V center coupled on the periphery of a microtoroidal resonator and linear-optical elements. Exploiting currently available techniques (for example, the single-photon input–output process), the standard maximally entangled W state could be distilled from the initial partially entangled W state. Compared with other ECPs for W-class states, we discuss the advantages of the present protocol. Further, the feasibility and the experimental challenges of the protocol are discussed by considering currently available techniques.

Error-rejecting entanglement concentration for electron spins in quantum dots assisted by optical cavity

Xin Wang, Chunyan Li, Bao‐Cang Ren

Abstract We present error-rejecting entanglement concentration protocols (ECPs) for partially entangled electron spins in quantum dots (QDs) with unknown and known parameters using quantum electrodynamics of QDs coupled with optical cavities, which can recover the partially entangled state to the maximally entangled state with unit fidelity even in the non-ideal experimental condition. The error-rejecting ECP for a partially entangled state utilizes parity check operations on electron spins within QDs. Furthermore, for a partially entangled state with known parameters, the ECP is devised through a parameter-splitting approach. The success probabilities of these two error-rejecting ECPs can be further improved by using the resource recycling method and iteration method. On account of their unit fidelity and considerable success probability, the error-rejecting ECPs have promising application value in improving the fidelity of quantum communication.

Compact entanglement concentration for three-electron-spin W states with error-detected parity-check gates

Gang Fan, Xue-Mei Ren, Fang‐Fang Du

Abstract We present a compact entanglement concentration protocol (ECP) for unknown less-entangled three-electron-spin W states, resorting to the interaction rules between the circularly polarized photon and cavity-quantum-dot (QD) system. In the first step of our ECP, the parties utilize two less-entangled three-electron-spin systems not only to obtain one partially entangled three-electron-spin system with two unknown parameters if the odd-parity occurs with the parity-check gate (PCG) but also to get one entangled two-electron-spin system if the even-parity occurs. By exploiting the above three-electron-spin and two-electron-spin systems as the resource for the second step of our ECP, the parties can obtain a standard three-electron-spin W state if the odd parity occurs. Meanwhile, the systems in the even-parity instance can be used as the resource in the next round of our ECP. As the imperfect performances originated from the side leakage and the limited coupling strength of the cavity-QD system can be reflected by clicking the single-photon detectors, the fidelity of the PCG is unit, in principle, immune to strong coupling-strength restriction. Moreover, the success of our ECP not only is heralded by the detectors but also its efficiency further is improved by repeating the operation processes. Therefore, our ECP is useful in the quantum communication network.
