Conformal group $Yields$ Schroedinger group $Yields$ dynamical group: the maximal kinematical group of the massive Schroedinger particle

A. O. Barut

The 15-parameter nonrelativistic limit of the conformal group and its linear realization in the six-dimensional space are determined. It is shown that the massive free Schroedinger equation is invariant under a 15-parameter set of transformations enlarging the 12-parameter Schroedinger group. It is shown how this set arises from the conformal group, and the quantum-mechanica1 representation of the generators is determined. (auth)

Symplectically covariant Schrödinger equation in phase space

Maurice A. de Gosson

A classical theorem of Stone and von Neumann says that the Schrödinger representation is, up to unitary equivalences, the only irreducible representation of the Heisenberg group on the Hilbert space of square-integrable functions on configuration space. Using the Wigner-Moyal transform we construct an irreducible representation of the Heisenberg group on a certain Hilbert space of square-integrable functions defined on phase space. This allows us to extend the usual Weyl calculus into a phase-space calculus and leads us to a quantum mechanics in phase space, equivalent to standard quantum mechanics. We also briefly discuss the extension of metaplectic operators to phase space and the probabilistic interpretation of the solutions of the phase space Schrödinger equation

Squeezing Bogoliubov transformations on the infinite mode CCR-algebra

Reinhard Honegger, Alfred Rieckers

A detailed analysis of and a general decomposition theorem for in general unbounded symplectic transformations on an arbitrary complex pre-Hilbert space (one–boson test function space) are given. The structure of strongly continuous symplectic groups on such spaces is determined. The connection between quadratic Hamiltonians, Bogoliubov transformations, and symplectic transformations is discussed in the Fock representation, and their relevance for squeezing operations in quantum optics is pointed out. The results for this rather general class of transformations are proved in a self-contained fashion.
