Abstract

We show how to optimally protect quantum states and freeze coherence
under incoherent channels using a quantum weak measurement and quantum
measurement reversal. In particular, we present explicit formulas for the
conditions for freezing quantum coherence in a given quantum state.

Amplifying and freezing of quantum coherence using weak measurement and quantum measurement reversal

Lian-Wu Yang, Yun‐Jie Xia

We analyze universal conditions where the l 1 norm and relative entropy of coherence are amplified and frozen under identical bit-flip channels; that is, using pre-measurements (quantum weak measurements or quantum measurement reversals) on the systems before undergoing local bit-flip channels. With the option of quantum weak measurements or quantum measurement reversals, the measurement strength and the success probability are all determined by the initial state of the quantum system.

Measure-independent freezing of quantum coherence

Xiao‐Dong Yu, Da-Jian Zhang, C. L. Liu +1 more

We find that all measures of coherence are frozen for an initial state in a strictly incoherent channel if and only if the relative entropy of coherence is frozen for the state. Our finding reveals the existence of measure-independent freezing of coherence, and provides an entropy-based dynamical condition in which the coherence of an open quantum system is totally unaffected by noise.

Protecting coherence by weak measurement and quantum measurement reversal

Qiong Wang, Zhi He

Abstract The dynamic behavior of the relative entropy of coherence for a two-level system is systematically investigated in different regimes. We derive the exact expressions of relative entropy quantifying coherence for an exactly solving model consisting of single qubit interacting with independent structured reservoir, show explicitly that the weak measurement (WM) and quantum measurement reversal (QMR) operation indeed help for protecting the coherence. In addition, the freezing phenomenon of the coherence can be detected by using the optimal WM and QMR operation.

Protecting quantum states from decoherence of finite temperature using weak measurement

Shuchao Wang, Zong‐Wen Yu, Wenjie Zou +1 more

Exposed in the nonzero temperature environment, a quantum system can both lose and gain excitations by interacting with the environment. In this work, we show how to optimally protect quantum states and quantum entanglement in such a situation based on measurement reversal from weak measurement. In particular, we present explicit formulas of protection. We find that this scheme can circumvent the entanglement sudden death in certain conditions.

Experimental realization of self-guided quantum coherence freezing

Shang Yu, Yi‐Tao Wang, Zhi‐Jin Ke +6 more

Quantum coherence is the most essential characteristic of quantum physics, specifcially, when it is subject to the resource-theoretical framework, it is considered as the most fundamental resource for quantum techniques. Other quantum resources, e.g., entanglement, are all based on coherence. Therefore, it becomes urgently important to learn how to preserve coherence in quantum channels. The best preservation is coherence freezing, which has been studied recently. However, in these studies, the freezing condition is theoretically calculated, and there still lacks a practical way to achieve this freezing; in addition the channels are usually fixed, but actually, there are also degrees of freedom that can be used to adapt the channels to quantum states. Here we develop a self-guided quantum coherence freezing method, which can guide either the quantum channels (tunable-channel scheme with upgraded channels) or the initial state (fixed-channel scheme) to the coherence-freezing zone from any starting estimate. Specifically, in the fixed-channel scheme, the final-iterative quantum states all satisfy the previously calculated freezing condition. This coincidence demonstrates the validity of our method. Our work will be helpful for the better protection of quantum coherence.

Protecting quantum coherence and discord from decoherence of depolarizing noise via weak measurement and measurement reversal

Abdul Basit, Fazal Badshah, Hamad Ali +1 more

Protection of the quantum coherence and discord in realistic quantum systems interacting with the environment of depolarizing noise is an important subject in quantum information processing. Weak measurement and measurement reversal can effectively suppress the amplitude damping-class decoherence. In this paper, we examine the effect of this protocol in the protection of quantum coherence and discord subjected to depolarizing noise environments. Our scheme consists of a prior weak measurement on each qubit before interacting with noisy channels followed by post measurement reversal. It is found that quantum coherence and discord can be enhanced to an optimal value by performing weak measurements and adjusting measurement parameters on each qubit. In addition, the maximal value of the quantum coherence and discord is found to be independent of the initial-state parameters.
