Abstract

We analyze universal conditions where the l 1 norm and relative entropy of coherence are amplified and frozen under identical bit-flip channels; that is, using pre-measurements (quantum weak measurements or quantum measurement reversals) on the systems before undergoing local bit-flip channels. With the option of quantum weak measurements or quantum measurement reversals, the measurement strength and the success probability are all determined by the initial state of the quantum system.

Measure-independent freezing of quantum coherence

We find that all measures of coherence are frozen for an initial state in a strictly incoherent channel if and only if the relative entropy of coherence is frozen for the state. Our finding reveals the existence of measure-independent freezing of coherence, and provides an entropy-based dynamical condition in which the coherence of an open quantum system is totally unaffected by noise.

Freezing quantum coherence with weak measurement

We show how to optimally protect quantum states and freeze coherence under incoherent channels using a quantum weak measurement and quantum measurement reversal. In particular, we present explicit formulas for the conditions for freezing quantum coherence in a given quantum state.

Protecting coherence by weak measurement and quantum measurement reversal

Qiong Wang, Zhi He

Abstract The dynamic behavior of the relative entropy of coherence for a two-level system is systematically investigated in different regimes. We derive the exact expressions of relative entropy quantifying coherence for an exactly solving model consisting of single qubit interacting with independent structured reservoir, show explicitly that the weak measurement (WM) and quantum measurement reversal (QMR) operation indeed help for protecting the coherence. In addition, the freezing phenomenon of the coherence can be detected by using the optimal WM and QMR operation.

Frozen Quantum Coherence

Thomas R. Bromley, Marco Cianciaruso, Gerardo Adesso

We analyze under which dynamical conditions the coherence of an open quantum system is totally unaffected by noise. For a single qubit, specific measures of coherence are found to freeze under different conditions, with no general agreement between them. Conversely, for an N-qubit system with even N, we identify universal conditions in terms of initial states and local incoherent channels such that all bona fide distance-based coherence monotones are left invariant during the entire evolution. This finding also provides an insightful physical interpretation for the freezing phenomenon of quantum correlations beyond entanglement. We further obtain analytical results for distance-based measures of coherence in two-qubit states with maximally mixed marginals.

Improving tripartite entanglement in open system by weak measurement and quantum measurement reversal

Yunhai Zhang, Yun‐Jie Xia

Qubits A, B and C, initially prepared in a like-GHZ state, are distributed to three remote receivers through a decoherence environment. A weak measurement is firstly performed on each qubit before experiencing the decoherence channel, and then the receivers carry out a quantum measurement reversal on individual qubit after receiving them. The qubits’ entanglement is evaluated by means of negativity. The results show the pre- and post-measurements’ strength has an important influence on tripartite entanglement for the initially given state, and proper pre- and post-measurements’ strength always effectively improves tripartite entanglement, which is significant to protect entanglement from decoherence.

Comparative investigation of freezing phenomena for quantum coherence and correlations

Lian-Wu Yang, Wei Han, Yun‐Jie Xia

We show that the freezing phenomenon, exhibited by a specific class of two-qubit state under local nondissipative decoherent evolutions, is a common feature of the relative entropy measure of quantum coherence and correlation. All those measurement outcomes, preserve a constant value in the considered noisy channels, but the condition, property and mechanism of the freezing phenomenon for quantum coherence are different from those of the quantum correlation.
