A quantum physical argument for panpsychism

Shan Gao

Abstract: It has been widely thought that consciousness has no causal efficacy in the physical world. However, this may be not the case. In this paper, it is argued that a conscious being can distinguish definite perceptions and their quantum superpositions, while a measuring sys-tem without consciousness cannot distinguish such non-orthogonal quantum states. The existence of this distinct quantum physical effect of consciousness may have interesting implications for the science of consciousness. In particular, it suggests that consciousness is not emergent but a fundamental feature of the universe. This provides a possible quantum basis for panpsychism.

Physics of the Brain-Schizophrenia

Omid Rezania

Schizophrenic patients suffer from hallucination which its causality is not yet fully understood. This paper attempts to approach this mystery from the perspective of quantum mechanical theories. A novel approach has been adopted to demonstrate the hallucination as a time evolution of percepts basis states in the Hilbertian consciousness which are desynchronised from the time in real world. The method also extends his approach to predict mind and brain modulation through the correlation and coupling of consciousness and it reaches a clinically hypothetical outcome of inducing consciousness into a brain which is not conscious.
