Abstract

A two-level atomic system driving by the three-mode light field was researched. In the special case the simple analytical solution was found. The positions of the resonances in the polarization and susceptibility spectrum were predicted when the detuning between side band components is changed.

Асимптотическое разложение спектра поляризации двухуровневой системы в полихроматическом поле в пределе малых амплитуд

A two-level media driven by a polychromatic field is considered in the limit of small amplitudes. In this limit the asymptotic expansions for the polarization spectra of an arbitrary order are obtained. The obtained polarization spectra were compared with the numerical solution of the density matrix equation. Compared to numerical methods, the asymptotic expansion allows analytically estimating the contribution of each individual component of the polychromatic field and describing the intermode interaction. However, as the intensity of the acting field grows, the computational efficiency of the method decreases and to achieve the required accuracy it is necessary to increase the order of the asymptotic expansion.

A numerical solution has been obtained for a two-level atomic system interacting with a 101-component polychromatic field. The analytical method of recurrence relations has confirmed the numerical calculations. The resonance in the polarization spectrum follows the transition frequency.

Fundamental spectroscopy of dressed-state-polarized atomic samples

The perturbation of atomic spectra by strong resonant optical driving fields can be analyzed to provide fundamental information regarding the physics of light–matter interaction. It is now well known that cw driving fields split the resonance fluorescence spectrum into three components and probe spectra (representing, for example, absorption from one terminal level of a strongly driven transition) into two components. These splittings are conveniently explained in terms of transitions between various eigenstates (dressed states1) of the coupled atom-field system.

Динамика заселенностей уровней и поляризации при двухфотонном резонансном переходе 1s-2s в атоме водорода (антиводорода) в поле фемтосекундного лазерного импульса

The dynamics of two-photon 1s↔2s transition in (anti)hydrogen atom in the field of femtosecond linearly polarized standing wave laser pulse is investigated. The density matrix equations for three levels 1s, 2s, and 2p were solved numerically out of frames of rotating wave approximation and perturbation approach. The coherent Rabi oscillation at different spatial points, velocity effect on level populations, saturation behavior of 2p-level population, and spectra of multiphoton resonances are demonstrated.
