Abstract

A numerical solution has been obtained for a two-level atomic system interacting with a 101-component polychromatic field. The analytical method of recurrence relations has confirmed the numerical calculations. The resonance in the polarization spectrum follows the transition frequency.

Theoretical analysis of resonances in the polarization spectrum of a two-level atom driven by a polychromatic field

Tai Hyun Yoon, S. A. Pulkin, Jong Rak Park +2 more

Analytic solutions of the optical Bloch equations for a two-level atom interacting with a strong polychromatic field whose frequencies are symmetrically positioned with respect to the atomic frequency are used to obtain the polarization spectrum of the atom. The spectrum is found to consist of a series of discrete peaks or dips superimposed on the continuous part of the spectrum. Physical interpretation of resonances exhibited in the continuous part of the spectrum is given using a semiclassical dressed-atom approach.

Nonlinear resonances in polarization spectrum of three-level atom, interacting with weak polychromatic fields

A. G. Antipov, I V Korshok, N. I. Matveeva +4 more

For three-level system of atoms interacting with polychromatic fields, the system of differential equations of the density matrix is analytically solved and the polarization spectrum of the components of the probe field is calculated. Supernarrow resonances in polarization spectrum at the frequency of the probe field occur at multiple harmonics, subharmonics, and on a frequency that is mirror-to-field.

Nonlinear polarization in comb-spectroscopy

Two methods were applied to compute the 2-level atom driven by a polychromatic field. The first method is a direct numerical solution of the density matrix equations and the second one is a harmonic basis decomposition resulting in an infinite linear algebraic equation system. It is showed the resonance frequency mostly follows the transition frequency. But some frequency pulling or pushing is observed depending on the transition frequency inside the field component bounds or not.

The polarization of two-level atom in the polychromatic weak field

S. A. Pulkin, A. G. Antipov, Alexey A. Kalinichev +2 more

The numerical solution for polarization for two-level atom in polyharmonic field has been made. The analytical solution for partial case of symmetrical position of carrier frequency relative to transition frequency is possible. The results showed that the nonlinear features in polarization spectrum take place even for small amplitudes of comb-components for small frequency distance between them. It means that it is necessary to take into account nonlinear effects for interpretation of spectra in comb spectroscopy.
