Quantum discord in the system of two atoms trapped in weak coherent state cavities connected by an optical fiber

LU Dao-ming, 邱昌东 Qiu Changdong

Geometrical quantum discord (GQD) is an effective measure of quantum correlation in quantum systems. We study GQD dynamics in an atom-cavity-fiber system. GQD between atoms and that between cavities are investigated. The influences of coupling constant between cavity and fiber and the intensity of the cavity field on GQD are discussed. Results show that GQD between atoms and that between cavities all display periodical evolutions, and their evolution frequencies increase with increasing coupling constant between cavity and fiber. On the other hand, the GQD between atoms and that between cavities are all strengthened with increasing intensity of the cavity field.

Entanglement dynamics between a pair of two-level atoms and cavity fields connected by an optical fiber

Sayed Ali Sina Musavi

In this study, we theoretically investigate a system composed of two isolated two-level atoms, each confined within an independent single-mode optical cavity. The cavities are coherently coupled via an optical fiber, enabling photon-mediated interaction between the two subsystems. Each cavity sustains a single-mode quantized electromagnetic field, and each atom couples exclusively to the field within its respective cavity. We analyze the time dependent entanglement dynamics, exploring both atom-atom and cavity-field bipartite entanglement under this hybrid interaction framework. To quantify entanglement, we employ concurrence as the measurement metric. The effects of the atoms' initial states and the optical fiber’s coupling strength on both atom-atom and field-field entanglement are analyzed. Numerical results reveal that when the coupling strength of the optical fiber is close to zero, no entanglement is observed between either the atoms or the fields. However, as the fiber coupling strength increases, entanglement emerges and exhibits collapse and revival behavior over time.

Observation of dressed states of distant atoms with delocalized photons in coupled-cavities quantum electrodynamics

Shinya Kato, Nikolett Német, Kohei Senga +4 more

In a cavity quantum electrodynamics (QED) system, where atoms coherently interact with photons in a cavity, the eigenstates of the system are the superposition states of atoms and cavity photons, the so-called dressed states of atoms. When two cavities are connected by an optical fiber with negligible loss, the coherent coupling between the cavities gives rise to photonic normal modes. One of these normal modes is the fiber-dark mode, in which photons are delocalized in the two distant cavities. Here we demonstrate the setting of coupled-cavities QED, where two nanofiber cavity-QED systems are coherently connected by a meter-long low-loss channel in an all-fiber fashion. Specifically, we observe dressed states of distant atoms with delocalized photons of the fiber-dark normal mode. Our system will provide a platform for the study of delocalized atomic and photonic states, photonic many-body physics, and distributed quantum computation.
