Abstract

The main purpose of the article is to examine and record the photoluminescence spectra of deoxyribonucleic acid and adenosine diphosphate in photon traps under ultraviolet radiation. The findings of the research show that in the small (∼ 1 mm3)volume of photon trap radiation trapping occurs in the substance under study. Thereis a significant redistribution of intensity, due to the transition from spontaneous luminescence to superluminescence. On the basis of the experiments conducted we conclude that laser generation in deoxyribonucleic acid and similar in structure biological compounds is possible

Особенности флуоресценции паров атомов Rb, заключенных в ячейку с антирелаксационным покрытием

Armen D. Sargsyan, A. Papoyan, David G. Sarkisyan

The features of the fluorescence spectra of Rb D1 line vapors were studied for the first time using a cell with anti-relaxation PolyDiMethylSiloxane (PDMS) coating. At high intensities (> 200mW/cm2) of a cw narrow-band diode laser in the transmission spectra due to the effect of optical pumping, there are no absorption lines at atomic transitions, while in the fluorescence spectrum, all 8 atomic transitions of the D1 line are pronounced. A strong redistribution of fluorescence intensity is registered for atomic transitions of 85Rb and 87Rb: in particular, the ratio of fluorescence amplitudes for transitions of 87Rb, Fg = 1 - Fe = 1, 2 in a regular cell is 5, while for a PDMS cell it is equal to 1.5. A physical explanation of the observed features of fluorescence in a PDMS cell is given. A significant increase of fluorescence intensity and a change in redistribution at the transitions with increasing of the PDMS cell temperature is demonstrated. It is noted that at large intensities of laser radiation (when there are no peaks on the transmission/absorption spectra of atomic transitions), fluorescence spectra remain the only convenient and informative tool for studying the behavior of atoms.

We derived the spectrum of the photon spontaneous emission at the irradiation of atoms by a strong laser field. Our approach is based on the Markoff (factorization) approximation for the total density matrix of the system consisting of an atom, laser field and the vacuum electromagnetic field.

Photoluminescence of aromatic compounds in photon traps under resonant pulse-periodic excitation

Yu. P. Voĭnov, В. С. Горелик, A. Yu. Pyatyshev +1 more

The photoluminescence spectra of aromatic compounds in a photon trap under ultraviolet pulse-periodic excitation are recorded. It is shown that the photoluminescence spectrum shape depends on the material layer thickness in a cell, physical state of the sample, and exciting radiation characteristics: as the layer thicknesses decreases, the intensity is significantly redistributed, which is explained by the transition from spontaneous luminescence to superluminescence.

Influence of a Scattering Medium Consisting of Potassium Atoms on the Luminescent Signal Decay Time: Theoretical Investigation by Monte Carlo Method

V.M. Yamshchikov

The study solves the problem of the luminescent photons propagation in a resonantly absorbing medium consisting of atoms of the studied substance and a buffer inert gas. The Monte Carlo method was used in numerical experiments carried out to simulate real processes that occur in a chamber designed to determine the lifetime of an individual atom in an excited state by the method of measuring the luminescence intensity decay time. Findings of the research show that when luminescent photons are repeatedly scattered (scattering means the process of absorption and re-emission of a photon by an atom) in a medium, the luminescence decay time noticeably increases, reaching a value greater than the average lifetime of an individual atom in an excited state. The reflection of photons from the walls that make up the chamber can lead to errors in measuring the lifetime. The process of luminescence decay is studied theoretically for various detunings of the laser frequency from the resonant transition frequency. A three-level model of the atom and a model of complete frequency redistribution were applied. The study describes an algorithm based on the Monte Carlo method, which is used to model the three-level population kinetics, laser radiation transfer, radiation trapping, and frequency redistribution

Внутридоплеровская флуоресцентная спектроскопия в тонких газовых ячейках при накачке широкополосным излучением

The excitation of atoms (molecules) of a rarefied gas by stationary broadband optical radiation in a thin cell, the inner thickness of which is many times smaller than its transverse size, is studied theoretically. The features of optical pumping and transit-time relaxation of atomic particles in such cells open new possibilities for ultra-high resolution spectroscopy. The conditions are analyzed under which narrow high-contrast sub-Doppler fluorescence resonances arise at the central frequencies of spontaneous transitions from optically excited atomic (molecular) quantum levels.
