Decoherence and control strategies in open quantum systems

Lou Yuesheng

The cause of open quantum systems, decoherence phenomena, its types, and its effects were analyzed and represented.Different kinds of methods and control strategies of suppressed decoherence were detailed summarized. The advantages and disadvantages of control strategies of suppressed decoherence in open quantum systems were exploited. In the end,the development direction of suppressed decoherence research was perspectived.

Controllable Subspaces of Open Quantum Dynamical Systems

Ming Zhang, Hong‐Yi Dai, Gong Er-Ling +2 more

This paper discusses the concept of controllable subspace for open quantum dynamical systems. It is constructively demonstrated that combining structural features of decoherence-free subspaces with the ability to perform open-loop coherent control on open quantum systems will allow decoherence-free subspaces to be controllable. This is in contrast to the observation that open quantum dynamical systems are not open-loop controllable. To a certain extent, this paper gives an alternative control theoretical interpretation on why decoherence-free subspaces can be useful for quantum computation.

Model Predictive Control of Two-level Open Quantum Systems

Yunyan Lee, Ian R. Petersen, Daoyi Dong

This paper presents a robust control approach for a two-level open quantum system subject to bounded uncertainties through the application of model predictive control. We demonstrate two common cases: depolarizing decoherence and phase-damping decoherence in open quantum systems. We develop a model predictive control method using quantum measurements and provide a lower bound on the probability of obtaining the predicted state. Numerical results illustrate the effectiveness of this model predictive control approach in achieving stability and robustness in open quantum systems.
