Abstract

Abstract Using relative entropy of coherence, we study the atomic coherence (AC) in the nonresonant Jaynes–Cummings model, when the atom is initially prepared in an incoherent mixed state and the quantized field is in a thermocoherent (Glauber–Lachs) state. The influence of the increasing average number of thermal photons, average number of coherent photons and detuninig parameter on the AC are examined, separately in detail. We found that increasing the mean number of thermal (coherent) photons over a fixed mean number of the coherent (thermal) field has a destructive (constructive) effect on the AC. In addition, we see that the increment of detuning parameter leads to decrement of AC. Remarkably, we observe that in the particular case of thermal field, the AC cannot be created.

Entropy squeezing of a Jaynes–Cummings atom with the Glauber–Lachs state

Hünkar Kayhan

In this paper, we investigate the entropy squeezing of a two-level atom interacting with a quantum field prepared initially in the Glauber–Lachs state by using the Jaynes–Cummings model. We explore the effects of increasing the intensity of the thermal field over a fixed intensity of the coherent field on the entropy squeezing of the atom. We show that increasing the number of thermal photons in the coherent field has a destructive effect on the entropy squeezing of the atom.

System mixedness as a contributor to entanglement in the Jaynes–Cummings model

Hünkar Kayhan

The effects of a chaotic field on the entanglement dynamics in a system of interaction of a two-level atom with a single-mode cavity field prepared in a Glauber–Lachs state were investigated in the framework of the Jaynes–Cummings model. We found that the entanglement is a non-monotonic function of the ratio of the mean numbers of thermal photons and coherent photons or, equivalently, the degree of initial mixedness of the system. There is an optimal value of this ratio up to which thermal photons contribute increasingly to the entanglement and after which they weaken the strength of the entanglement.

Glauber-Lachs version of the Jaynes-Cummings interaction of a two-level atom

M. Venkata Satyanarayana, M. Vijayakumar, P. M. Alsing

The dynamics of the Jaynes-Cummings interaction of a two-level atom interacting with a single mode of a radiation field prepared in a Glauber-Lachs state is investigated to study the development of seemingly chaotic oscillations of the atomic inversion from a regular collapse-and-revival phenomenon, as the field statistics is changed from the coherent state to the thermal state. The effect of thermal photons on the coherent light is shown to be striking: Both the photon distribution as well as the atomic inversion are highly sensitive to even a very small addition of thermal photons to an initially coherent radiation field. We also compare the collapse and revival occurring in the micromaser case with the Glauber-Lachs version of the Jaynes-Cummings model.

Entropy squeezing of a multiphoton Jaynes-Cummings atom with the Glauber-Lachs state

Feng Chua

The information entropy squeezing properties of the atom interacting with the Glauber-Lachs state in multi-photon Jaynes-Cummings model are studied by means of the full quantum theory. The influences of the mean number of the coherent photons, the average number of the thermal photons, the number of the transition photons and the atomic initial state on the information entropy squeezing of the atom are discussed. The results indicate that there is no entropy squeezing in the Xcomponent of information entropy of the atom at any instant of the time evolution of the system. But there exists an entropy squeezing in the Ycomponent of information entropy of the atom during the time evolution when the mean number of coherent photons takes an appropriate value. The mean number of thermal photons and the number of the transition photons have a destructive effect on the Ycomponent of information entropy of the atom. The atomic initial state has no effect on the entropy squeezing in the Ycomponent of information entropy of the atom.If the number of the transition photons equals to two,the time evolution of the entropy squeezing factor appears periodic change.

Influence of atomic coherence on entanglement between dipole-coupled Jaynes-Cummings and isolated atom

Eugene K. Bashkirov

We investigated the entanglement of a quantum system consisting of a Jaynes-Cummings atom, thermal lossless cavity and an isolated atom. The analytical expressions of the atom-atom negativity for separable, separable coherent and entangled initial atomic states were obtained. The influence of initial atomic coherence, detuning between the atomic transition frequency and the field frequency and direct dipole-dipole interaction on an atom- atom entanglement is examined. We showed that for a separable and separable coherent initial atomic states a detuning might cause high atom-atom entanglement in the presence of the dipole-dipole interaction even for thermal field with high intensity. We also obtained that for entangled initial atomic states a detuning causes a stabilization of an entanglement oscillations.

The role of thermal and squeezed photons in the entanglement dynamics of the double Jaynes–Cummings model

Koushik Mandal, Chandrashekar Radhakrishnan, M V Satyanarayana

Abstract The effects of squeezed photons and thermal photons on the entanglement dynamics of atom-atom, atom-field and field-field subsystems are studied for the double Jaynes–Cummings model. For this purpose, squeezed coherent states and Glauber-Lachs states of radiation are chosen as field states. For the atomic states, we choose one of the Bell state as pure state and a Werner-type state as mixed state. Werner-type state is used to understand the effects of mixedness on entanglement. To measure the entanglement between the two atoms, Wootters’ concurrence is used; whereas for the atom-field and field-field subsystems, negativity is chosen. The squeezed photons and thermal photons create, destroy and transfer entanglement within various subsystems. Also, the addition of squeezed photons and thermal photons either lengthens or shortens the duration of entanglement sudden deaths (ESD) associated with atom-atom, atom-field and field-field entanglement dynamics in a complementary way. The effects of Ising-type interaction, detuning and Kerr-nonlinearity on the entanglement dynamics are studied. Each of these interactions removes the ESDs associated with various subsystems. We show that new entanglements are created in this atom-field system by introducing Ising-type interaction between the two atoms. With proper choice of the parameters corresponding to Ising-type interaction, detuning and Kerr-nonliearity, entanglement can be transferred among various subsystems.
