System mixedness as a contributor to entanglement in the Jaynes–Cummings model

Abstract

The effects of a chaotic field on the entanglement dynamics in a system of interaction of a two-level atom with a single-mode cavity field prepared in a Glauber–Lachs state were investigated in the framework of the Jaynes–Cummings model. We found that the entanglement is a non-monotonic function of the ratio of the mean numbers of thermal photons and coherent photons or, equivalently, the degree of initial mixedness of the system. There is an optimal value of this ratio up to which thermal photons contribute increasingly to the entanglement and after which they weaken the strength of the entanglement.

The role of thermal and squeezed photons in the entanglement dynamics of the double Jaynes–Cummings model

Koushik Mandal, Chandrashekar Radhakrishnan, M V Satyanarayana

Abstract The effects of squeezed photons and thermal photons on the entanglement dynamics of atom-atom, atom-field and field-field subsystems are studied for the double Jaynes–Cummings model. For this purpose, squeezed coherent states and Glauber-Lachs states of radiation are chosen as field states. For the atomic states, we choose one of the Bell state as pure state and a Werner-type state as mixed state. Werner-type state is used to understand the effects of mixedness on entanglement. To measure the entanglement between the two atoms, Wootters’ concurrence is used; whereas for the atom-field and field-field subsystems, negativity is chosen. The squeezed photons and thermal photons create, destroy and transfer entanglement within various subsystems. Also, the addition of squeezed photons and thermal photons either lengthens or shortens the duration of entanglement sudden deaths (ESD) associated with atom-atom, atom-field and field-field entanglement dynamics in a complementary way. The effects of Ising-type interaction, detuning and Kerr-nonlinearity on the entanglement dynamics are studied. Each of these interactions removes the ESDs associated with various subsystems. We show that new entanglements are created in this atom-field system by introducing Ising-type interaction between the two atoms. With proper choice of the parameters corresponding to Ising-type interaction, detuning and Kerr-nonliearity, entanglement can be transferred among various subsystems.

Effects of noise on entanglement dynamics in atom-field interactions

Hünkar Kayhan

The entanglement dynamics in a system of the interaction of an atom with a single-mode cavity field in the presence of noise is studied by the Jaynes-Cummings model. Random phase telegraph noise is considered as the noise in the interaction and an exact solution to the model under this noise is obtained. The obtained solution is used to investigate the entanglement dynamics of the atom-field interaction. The mutual entropy is adopted for the quantification of the entanglement in the interaction. It is found that the entanglement is a non monotonic function of the intensity of the noise. The degree of the entanglement decreases to a minimum value for an optimal intensity of the noise and then increases for a sufficiently large intensity.

Effects of cavity-field statistics on atomic entanglement in a two-mode Jaynes–Cummings model with intensity-dependent coupling

Sudha Singh, Amrita Amrita

We study the entanglement properties of a pair of two-level Rydberg atoms passing one after another into a lossless cavity with two modes. The atoms interact with the cavity field via an intensity-dependent, non-degenerate two-photon transition. The initial joint state of two successive atoms that enter the cavity is unentangled. Interactions mediated by the two-mode cavity photon field result in the final two-atom mixed entangled type state. The entanglement of formation of the joint two-atom state as a function of the Rabi angle, gt, is calculated for the two-mode Fock state field, coherent field, and thermal field, respectively, inside the cavity. The change in the magnitude of atomic entanglement with cavity photon number in two modes has been studied.

Chaos and entanglement in atomic systems interacting with photons

Alexander V. Gorokhov

The influence of chaotic behavior of coherent state (CS) parameters on entanglement dynamics in system of two level atoms and photons in cavity is investigated. The initial state of the system is chosen as factorized production of photon and atomic coherent states. To find a solution of the Schrödinger equation, we presented the time-dependent wave function in the form of a wave packet in CS representation. The phase portraits and Poincare sections for classical dynamics of CS were computed, and time dependence of the mean number of photons level populations and atomic entropy were calculated in quantum case. The analysis showed that the chaotic behavior in quantum-optical Dicke model increases the degree of entanglement in the atomic subsystem. At the same time greater entanglement is generated when selecting the initial atomic CS parameters near the center of the corresponding Poincare sections. It is considered dynamics of two identical two-level atoms in non-ideal cavity (nonideal Tavis-Cummings model). Accounting for decay showed that the generation of atomic entanglement is accompanied by the return of the initial separable state (”death” of entanglement), but this behavior with the increase of the initial parameter of the field CS is only at sufficiently small times. Influence of detuning and damping constants are considered.

Entropy squeezing of a Jaynes–Cummings atom with the Glauber–Lachs state

Hünkar Kayhan

In this paper, we investigate the entropy squeezing of a two-level atom interacting with a quantum field prepared initially in the Glauber–Lachs state by using the Jaynes–Cummings model. We explore the effects of increasing the intensity of the thermal field over a fixed intensity of the coherent field on the entropy squeezing of the atom. We show that increasing the number of thermal photons in the coherent field has a destructive effect on the entropy squeezing of the atom.

Dynamics of entanglement in a two-mode nonlinear Jaynes-Cummings mode

A. B. M. Ahmed, S. Sivakumar

Dynamics of entanglement due to intensity-dependent interaction between a two-level atom and a single-mode electromagnetic field in a Kerr medium is studied. The form of the interaction is such that the Hamiltonian evolution is exactly solvable. The Hamiltonian is shown to be a deformed Jaynes-Cummings model admitting a closed, symmetric algebra. Dynamics of population inversion and atom-field entanglement are studied taking the initial state of the field to be either a coherent state or a squeezed vacuum. Analysis is extended to the case of a two-mode cavity field interacting with a two-level atom. For the two-mode case, the initial field is a pair coherent state or a two-mode squeezed vacuum. Effects due to nonlinearity, intensity-dependent interaction and detuning on the dynamics are discussed and compared with those of the single-mode case.
