THE FLOQUET METHOD FOR PT-SYMMETRIC PERIODIC POTENTIALS

Hugh F Jones

By the general theory of PT-symmetric quantum systems, their energy levels are either real or occur in complex-conjugate pairs, which implies that the secular equation must be real. However, for periodic potentials it is by no means clear that the secular equation arising in the Floquet method is indeed real, since it involves two linearly independent solutions of the Schrödinger equation. In this brief note we elucidate how that reality can be established.

UNOBSERVABLE POTENTIALS TO EXPLAIN A QUANTUM ERASER AND A DELAYED-CHOICE EXPERIMENT

M. Morimoto

We present a new explanation for a quantum eraser. Mathematical description of the traditional explanation needs quantum-superposition states. However, the phenomenon can be explained without quantum-superposition states by introducing unobservable potentials which can be identified as an indefinite metric vector. In addition, a delayed choice experiment can also be explained by the interference between the photons and unobservable potentials, which seems like an unreal long-range correlation beyond the causality.

BOUND STATES OF KLEIN-GORDON EQUATION FOR HARTMANN SCALAR AND VECTOR POTENTIALS

Fa‐Lin Lu

By using the usual method of variable separation, bound states of Klein-Gordon equation with equal Hartmann scalar and vector potentials are solved. Properties of the system relate to three quantum numbers and parameters of Hartmann potential. The normalized angle wave function expressed in terms of the universal associated-Legendre polynomial and the normalized radial wave function expressed in terms of the confluent hypergeometric function are presented. The exacl energy spectrum equations are obtained. Bound states of Klein-Gordon equation for Hydrogen potential are special cases for the Hartmann potential in the Letter.
