Abstract

In Classical Mechanics a pure state is described by a Dirac measure supported by a point in phase space. These keywords were added by machine and not by the authors. This process is experimental and the keywords may be updated as the learning algorithm improves.

The Transition Region as Predicted by Quantum Mechanics

Theo van Holten

In the present chapter the connection between quantum mechanics and classical physics is treated, as derived in established quantum theory. These keywords were added by machine and not by the authors. This process is experimental and the keywords may be updated as the learning algorithm improves.

Measurement of the Wigner Function

Antoine Royer

An operational procedure is given for determining experimentally, in principle at least, the Wigner function for an ensemble of particles. This manner of "measuring" a quantum state, whether pure or mixed, via its Wigner function, seems the simplest possible, and closely parallels the method one might use in classical mechanics to determine a (true) phase-space probability density.

We make in this Lecture an analysis of the semiclassical approximation for states represented in configuration space by wave function with fast oscillating phase. These keywords were added by machine and not by the authors. This process is experimental and the keywords may be updated as the learning algorithm improves.

The basics of the Wigner formulation of Quantum-Mechanics and few related interpretational issues are presented in a simple language. This formulation has extensive applications in Quantum Optics and in Mixed Quantum-Classical formulations.

Lecture 11: Time Independent Formalisms. Flux-Across Surfaces. Enss Method. Inverse Scattering

Gianfausto Dell’Antonio

At the beginning of Lecture 10 we have remarked that scattering Theory in Quantum as in Classical Mechanics, describes those effects of the interaction of a system of N particles which can be measured when the components of the system have become spatially separated so that the mutual interactions have become negligible. These keywords were added by machine and not by the authors. This process is experimental and the keywords may be updated as the learning algorithm improves.
