Animadversion on the Quantum Mechanics Annotation of the Copenhagen School in China During 1950s and 1970s

HU Hua-ka

The Copenhagen School that was represented by Bohr and Heisenberg made great contributions to the establishment of Quantum Mechanics. However, the annotation of Quantum Mechanics of the Copenhagen School aroused long-time controversy among many physicists, including Einstein. During 1950s and 1970s, a series of animadversion activities had been developed in China with a particular history background, and Bohr’s Principle of Complementarity and Heisenberg’s Uncertainty Principle had been repeatedly criticized. The animadversion affected Chinese people’s correct understanding of the Quantum Mechanical Viewpoints of the Copenhagen School, therefore it hampered the development of Quantum Mechanics in China. This article systematically investigates the historical process of the animadversion, analyzes the historical causes of the animadversion, and summarizes the characteristics of these activities.
