Abstract

We consider a confidential communication through Rayleigh fading channel in which a source transmits a common stream of information to the multiple client receivers via multiple relays in the presence of an eavesdropper. We assume that there is no direct path from source to client receivers and eavesdropper, and communication occurs only through the relays. In order to increase the spectral efficiency, we consider a linear equalization, e.g., zero-forcing (ZF) in cooperative spatial multiplexing system. Considering the effect of linear equalization, at first, we derive the exact closed-form expression for the ergodic secrecy multicast capacity. Then, we derive the closed-form expressions for the secure outage probability and the complementary cumulative distribution function (CCDF) of secrecy multicast capacity to analyze the outage performance of proposed model.

Enhancing Security in Wireless Multicasting over k - µ Fading Channel

A. S. M. Badrudduza, Milton Kumar Kundu

In this paper, a secure wireless multicast network over k - μ fading channel is considered, where a source transmits secret information to a group of receivers. A group of eavesdroppers are also present in the network which are responsible for wiretapping the transmitted information. A perfect secrecy can be obtained if the eavesdroppers are not able to decode any information from the source. In order to investigate the secrecy capacity of the multicast network, at first a novel expression for Ergodic secrecy multicast capacity is derived in closed-form. The outage performance of the proposed network is analyzed obtaining the closed-form expressions of secure outage probability for multicasting. The effects of fading is determined and a beneficent insight is provided into investigating the secrecy performance of some other common fading scenarios such as Rician, Rayleigh, Nakagami-m, Gaussian etc. using the derived novel expressions of this paper. Monte-Carlo simulations are performed to validate the derived analytical expressions.

Performance Analysis of Multicasting Over Rician-K Fading Channels: A Secrecy Tradeoff

A. S. M. Badrudduza, M. Z. I. Sarkar, Milton Kumar Kundu +1 more

A secure multicasting framework is considered in this paper to investigate the secrecy performance of a single-input multiple-output (SIMO) system in which a single antenna source transmits private message to multiple receivers in the presence of multiple eavesdroppers. All the receivers and eavesdroppers are equipped with multiple antennas. The perfect secrecy is obtained when evasedroppers can not be able to decode any transmitted information. Considering independent and identically distributed (i.i.d) Rician-K fading channels, the mathematical expressions for the probability of non-zero secrecy multicast capacity, the ergodic secrecy multicast capacity and the secure outage probability for multicasting are derived in closed-forms. Numerical results are provided to show the impact of the diversity provided by the multiple antennas at the receivers. In addition, the impact of Rician factor, K on the secrecy capacity and outage behaviour of the proposed multicasting scenario is also demonstrated. The performance analysis includes the Rayleigh fading scenario as a special case of Rician-K fading channel and focuses the performance comparison between Rician-K and Rayleigh fading channels.

Secure outage performance analysis of wireless multicasting through Weibull fading channel

J. E. Giti, S. A. H. Chowdhury

In this paper, we consider the transmission of confidential message through Weibull fading single-input single-output (SISO) channel in the presence of multiple eavesdroppers. At first, we define perfect secrecy capacity in terms of secure outage probability and provide a complete characterization of the maximum transmission rate at which the eavesdroppers are unable to decode any information. Then, we find the average secrecy capacity for multicasting in the presence of multiple eavesdroppers. Finally, we find the closed-form expression for the secure outage probability to investigate the secure outage performance of Weibull fading SISO channel in the presence of multiple eavesdroppers and simulated ergodic secrecy multicast capacity for different fading parameters to observe the effect of diversity on the fading parameter.

Information-theoretic security in wireless multicasting

Md. Zahurul I. Sarkar, Tharmalingam Ratnarajah

In this paper, a wireless multicast scenario is considered in which the transmitter sends a common message to a group of client receivers through quasi-static Rayleigh fading channel in the presence of an eavesdropper. The communication between transmitter and each client receiver is said to be secured if the eavesdropper is unable to decode any information. On the basis of an information-theoretic formulation of the confidential communications between transmitter and a group of client receivers, we define the expected secrecy sum-mutual information in terms of secure outage probability and provide a complete characterization of maximum transmission rate at which the eavesdropper is unable to decode any information. Moreover, we find the probability of non-zero secrecy mutual information and present an analytical expression for ergodic secrecy multicast mutual information of the proposed model.

Secrecy Performance Analysis over Inverse Gamma Composite Multicast Fading Channels

Abdulkarim Al Hanif, A. S. M. Badrudduza, Md. Shakhawat Hossen +2 more

Secrecy performance of realistic wireless multicast scenarios are significantly deteriorated by simultaneous occurrence of multipath and shadowing which are modeled using composite fading channels. To resolve this security threat, in this paper a framework is proposed where a source transmits private multicast messages to multiple receivers over η - μ / inverse gamma composite fading channels. A group of eavesdroppers are trying to overhear this secret communication. Perfect secrecy is obtained if eavesdropper can not decode any information from the multicast links. Secrecy analysis is carried out deriving closed-form expressions of two well-known secrecy measures i.e. probability of non-zero secrecy capacity and secure outage probability for multicasting. The impacts of multipath, shadowing and other system parameters on the outage performance of the proposed scenario are quantified using the derived expressions. A generic nature of η - μ / inverse gamma distribution is obtained by showing Rayleigh, Nakagami-m, Nakagami-q, η - μ fading and Gaussian channels as a special case of this distribution. Finally, Monte-Carlo simulations are presented to verify the derived expressions.

Analysis of Secrecy Performance over Correlated η - µ Fading Channels

Milton Kumar Kundu, Abida Sultana Sumona, A. S. M. Badrudduza +1 more

In a multiple antenna network, correlation among the antennas tends to reduce the system capacity. In this paper, the effect of correlation on the secrecy performance over η - μ fading channel has been analyzed considering a multicast network in the presence of multiple eavesdroppers. Simple closed-form analytical expressions of the ergodic secrecy multicast capacity and the secure outage probability for multicasting are derived to numerically quantify the effect of correlation. The consequence of changing the number of receiving antennas on correlation has been observed and the secrecy performance of some commonly used channels like Gaussian channel, Rayleigh and Nakagami- m fading channels which can be found as a special case of the η - μ fading channel, have also been investigated. The derived expressions are finally verified through Monte-Carlo simulations.
