Abstract

A secure multicasting framework is considered in this paper to investigate the secrecy performance of a single-input multiple-output (SIMO) system in which a single antenna source transmits private message to multiple receivers in the presence of multiple eavesdroppers. All the receivers and eavesdroppers are equipped with multiple antennas. The perfect secrecy is obtained when evasedroppers can not be able to decode any transmitted information. Considering independent and identically distributed (i.i.d) Rician-K fading channels, the mathematical expressions for the probability of non-zero secrecy multicast capacity, the ergodic secrecy multicast capacity and the secure outage probability for multicasting are derived in closed-forms. Numerical results are provided to show the impact of the diversity provided by the multiple antennas at the receivers. In addition, the impact of Rician factor, K on the secrecy capacity and outage behaviour of the proposed multicasting scenario is also demonstrated. The performance analysis includes the Rayleigh fading scenario as a special case of Rician-K fading channel and focuses the performance comparison between Rician-K and Rayleigh fading channels.

Enhancing Security in Wireless Multicasting over k - µ Fading Channel

A. S. M. Badrudduza, Milton Kumar Kundu

In this paper, a secure wireless multicast network over k - μ fading channel is considered, where a source transmits secret information to a group of receivers. A group of eavesdroppers are also present in the network which are responsible for wiretapping the transmitted information. A perfect secrecy can be obtained if the eavesdroppers are not able to decode any information from the source. In order to investigate the secrecy capacity of the multicast network, at first a novel expression for Ergodic secrecy multicast capacity is derived in closed-form. The outage performance of the proposed network is analyzed obtaining the closed-form expressions of secure outage probability for multicasting. The effects of fading is determined and a beneficent insight is provided into investigating the secrecy performance of some other common fading scenarios such as Rician, Rayleigh, Nakagami-m, Gaussian etc. using the derived novel expressions of this paper. Monte-Carlo simulations are performed to validate the derived analytical expressions.

Secrecy Performance of Multicasting over Shadowed Rician Fading Channel

Md. Shakhawat Hossen, A. S. M. Badrudduza, Abdulkarim Al Hanif +2 more

This paper deals with a secure satellite-terrestrial multicast framework over shadowed Rician fading channel, where a satellite communicates with legitimate receivers in the appearance of several eavesdroppers. Our main aim focuses on the protection of this multicast messages from wiretapping. The secrecy performance is analyzed by deriving expressions for two secrecy measures such as the ergodic secrecy multicast capacity and secure outage probability for multicasting in closed-form. The derived mathematical expressions provides an useful insight into how the severity of shadowing affects the secrecy performance of the proposed model. Impact of fading, multicast users and number of eavesdropper on the secure outage behavior is also quantified which provides a trade-off between security and the system parameters. At last a close agreement between the analytical and Monte-Carlo simulation results is presented to validate the derived mathematical expressions.

Impact of Correlation on the Security in Multicasting through κ - µ Shadowed Fading Channels

Md. Najib Ibrahim, M. Z. I. Sarkar, A. S. M. Badrudduza +2 more

This paper focuse on the secrecy performance analysis over correlated κ - μ shadowed fading multicast channels considering a single input multiple output (SIMO) scenario. The proposed network consists of a single antenna source, and multiple receivers and eavesdroppers which are equipped with multiple antennas. The security analysis has been performed by developing a mathematical model and deriving the novel closed-form expressions(CFEs)of the performance matrices such as probability of non-zero secrecy multicast capacity (PNSMC) and secure outage probability for multicasting (SOPM). The secrecy capacity and outage characteristics of the multicast network has been investigated for the simultaneous presence of correlation and shadowing and it is observed that impact of each system parameter can be evaluated perfectly using the derived expressions. Finally, the analytical results has been verified by Monte-Carlo Simulations.

Secrecy Performance Analysis over Inverse Gamma Composite Multicast Fading Channels

Abdulkarim Al Hanif, A. S. M. Badrudduza, Md. Shakhawat Hossen +2 more

Secrecy performance of realistic wireless multicast scenarios are significantly deteriorated by simultaneous occurrence of multipath and shadowing which are modeled using composite fading channels. To resolve this security threat, in this paper a framework is proposed where a source transmits private multicast messages to multiple receivers over η - μ / inverse gamma composite fading channels. A group of eavesdroppers are trying to overhear this secret communication. Perfect secrecy is obtained if eavesdropper can not decode any information from the multicast links. Secrecy analysis is carried out deriving closed-form expressions of two well-known secrecy measures i.e. probability of non-zero secrecy capacity and secure outage probability for multicasting. The impacts of multipath, shadowing and other system parameters on the outage performance of the proposed scenario are quantified using the derived expressions. A generic nature of η - μ / inverse gamma distribution is obtained by showing Rayleigh, Nakagami-m, Nakagami-q, η - μ fading and Gaussian channels as a special case of this distribution. Finally, Monte-Carlo simulations are presented to verify the derived expressions.

Secure outage performance analysis of wireless multicasting through Weibull fading channel

J. E. Giti, S. A. H. Chowdhury

In this paper, we consider the transmission of confidential message through Weibull fading single-input single-output (SISO) channel in the presence of multiple eavesdroppers. At first, we define perfect secrecy capacity in terms of secure outage probability and provide a complete characterization of the maximum transmission rate at which the eavesdroppers are unable to decode any information. Then, we find the average secrecy capacity for multicasting in the presence of multiple eavesdroppers. Finally, we find the closed-form expression for the secure outage probability to investigate the secure outage performance of Weibull fading SISO channel in the presence of multiple eavesdroppers and simulated ergodic secrecy multicast capacity for different fading parameters to observe the effect of diversity on the fading parameter.

Secure wireless multicasting through Rayleigh fading channels — A secrecy tradeoff

Md. Zahurul I. Sarkar, Tharmalingam Ratnarajah, Mathini Sellathurai

In this paper, a wireless multicast scenario is considered in which the transmitter sends a common message to multiple client receivers in the presence of an eavesdropper. We are interested in protecting this common message against eavesdropping. Based on an information-theoretic formulation of the problem, in which the transmitter and the mutually independent multiple client receivers communicate over quasi-static Rayleigh fading channels and an eavesdropper observes their transmissions through another quasi-static Rayleigh fading channel, we define the secrecy-sum capacity in terms of secure outage probability. Moreover, we also present a formulation of ergodic perfect secrecy multicast capacity at which the eavesdropper is unable to decode any information.
