Quantum correlations and energy currents across three dissipative oscillators

Abstract

We present a study that addresses both the stationary properties of the energy current and quantum correlations in a three-mode chain subjected to Ohmic and super-Ohmic dissipations. An extensive numerical analysis shows that the mean value and the fluctuations of the energy current remain insensitive to the emergence of a rich variety of quantum correlations, such as two-mode discord and entanglement and bipartite three-mode and genuine tripartite entanglement. The discussion of the numerical results is based on the derived expressions for the stationary properties in terms of the two-time correlation functions of the oscillator operators, which carry the quantum correlations. Interestingly, we show that quantum discord can be enhanced by considering both initially squeezed thermal bath states and imposing temperature gradients.

Asymptotic discord and entanglement of nonresonant harmonic oscillators under weak and strong dissipation

Luis Alfonso Correa, Antonio A. Valido, Daniel Alonso

In this work, we calculate the exact asymptotic quantum correlations between two interacting nonresonant harmonic oscillators in a common Ohmic bath. We derive analytical formulas for the covariances, fully describing any Gaussian stationary state of the system, and use them to study discord and entanglement in the strong- and weak-dissipation regimes. We discuss the rich structure of the discord of the stationary separable states arising in the strong-dissipation regime. Also under strong dissipation, when the modes are not mechanically coupled, these may entangle only through their interaction with the common environment. Interestingly enough, this stationary entanglement assisted by dissipation is only present within a finite band of frequencies and increases with the dissipation rate. Robust entanglement between detuned oscillators is also observed at low temperature.

Dynamical Evolution of Quantum Correlations and Decoherence in Coupled Oscillators Interacting with a Thermal Reservoir

Somayeh Mehrabankar, Farkhondeh Abbasnezhad, Davood Afshar +1 more

We investigate the dynamical evolution of quantum discord, entanglement and purity in an open quantum system of two coupled asymmetric harmonic oscillators interacting with a thermal environment. Using the Kossakowski-Lindblad master equation we analyze the time evolution starting with a squeezed vacuum state. In contrast to our previous study on entanglement evolution in asymmetric oscillators, the present work introduces XY-type position-position coupling together with a systematic joint analysis of quantum discord and purity alongside entanglement. We examine the combined effects of the squeezing parameter, asymmetry parameter, coupling constant, dissipation rate and temperature. We find that quantum discord and entanglement exhibit, in general, a non-monotonic decrease over time. Increasing temperature consistently accelerates the degradation of both quantum correlations and purity, whereas increasing dissipation accelerates the degradation of quantum correlations but leads to higher steady-state purity. Increasing the squeezing parameter provides a protective effect by enhancing initial correlations and prolonging entanglement survival time, while increasing the coupling constant leads to higher quantum correlations. The asymmetry parameter exhibits only a weak influence on the correlation evolution. Our analysis reveals that quantum discord demonstrates stronger resilience than entanglement, which can present more complex behaviour including entanglement sudden death and possible temporary revivals and re-suppressions. These findings provide valuable insights for developing robust quantum information protocols and strategies for preserving quantum correlations in realistic open quantum systems, with potential extensions to non-Markovian regimes and multi-mode architectures.

Unveiling quantum entanglement and correlation of sub-Ohmic and Ohmic baths for quantum phase transitions in dissipative systems

Xiaohui Qian, Zhe Sun, Nengji Zhou

By employing the spin-boson model in a dense limit of environmental modes, quantum entanglement and correlation of sub-Ohmic and Ohmic baths for dissipative quantum phase transitions are numerically investigated based on the variational principle. With several measures borrowed from quantum information theory, three different types of singularities are found for the first-order, second-order, and Kosterlitz-Thouless phase transitions, respectively, and the values of transition points and critical exponents are accurately determined. Besides, the scaling form of the quantum discord in the Ohmic case is identified, quite different from that in the sub-Ohmic regime. In a two-spin model, two distinct behaviors of the quantum discord are uncovered: one is related to the quantum entanglement between two spins and the other is decided by the correlation function in the position space rather than the entanglement.

Multipartite entanglement in harmonic oscillators subjected to dissipative quantum dynamics

A meaningful description of the low-energy dynamics of multipartite entanglement is provided\nfor harmonic oscillator systems in general dissipative scenarios. This consists on a hierarchy of separability criteria that permit in a\nuni ed way to characterize k-partite entanglement of broad classes of Gaussian and non-\nGaussian states. The strength of the criteria is proven by showing that they satisfactorily\nreproduce previous results from the theory of entanglement, like PPT criterion applied to\narbitrary two-mode and pure three-mode Gaussian states.\nThe separability criteria allow to monitor the transient evolution of multipartite entanglement\nunder the environmental in\nuence, this permitted to show that non-Gaussian\nentanglement may be as robust against harmful dissipative e ects and thermal noise as\nGaussian one. We devote special attention to the stationary properties of tripartite entanglement\nwhen the system oscillators are in contact with either a common environment\nor independent environments at initial di erent temperatures. For the former dissipative\nscheme, it is shown that the environment mediates an e ective many-party interaction with\na spatial long-range feature between system oscillators, which is able to generate tripartite\nentanglement whereas two-mode entanglement is degraded. Regarding the second scheme,\nit is illustrated that thermal non-equilibrium conditions result in a rich variety of quantum\ncorrelations, however a temperature gradient eventually destroys the entanglement shared\nby the system oscillators as a consequence of the growth of thermal noise. Finally, the\nstationary entanglement and energy current across a nite harmonic chain are studied in\ndetail by doing an extensive numerical analysis of both phenomena for a broad range of the\nparameters (i.e., temperatures, oscillator frequencies, and oscillator coupling strengths).\nOur numerical ndings are discussed in terms of the derived energy current expressions,\nthese show an explicit dependence on the two-time correlation functions (between oscillator\noperators) which carry quantum correlations.

Quantum correlations in two-mode Gaussian open quantum systems

Аурелиан Исар

In the framework of the theory of open systems based on completely positive quantum dynamical semigroups, we give a description of continuous variable quantum entanglement and quantum discord for a system consisting of two non-interacting non-resonant bosonic modes embedded in a thermal environment. We study the time evolution of logarithmic negativity, which characterizes the degree of entanglement, and show that in the case of an entangled initial squeezed thermal state, entanglement suppression takes place for all temperatures of the environment, including zero temperature. We analyze the time evolution of the Gaussian quantum discord, which is a measure of all quantum correlations in the bipartite state, including entanglement, and show that discord decays asymptotically in time under the effect of the thermal bath. We describe also the time evolution of classical correlations.
