Abstract

In this paper, using the spin states of coupled singleelectron quantum dots, quantum coherence of the Swap qubit gate are studied,we obtained super operator of the system.Further,we gained the matrix element based on super operator and discussed the decoherence caused by a prototypical magnetic environment in the Born and Markov approximation.

Quantum computation with quantum dots

Daniel Loss, David Peter Divincenzo

We propose an implementation of a universal set of one- and two-quantum-bit gates for quantum computation using the spin states of coupled single-electron quantum dots. Desired operations are effected by the gating of the tunneling barrier between neighboring dots. Several measures of the gate quality are computed within a recently derived spin master equation incorporating decoherence caused by a prototypical magnetic environment. Dot-array experiments that would provide an initial demonstration of the desired nonequilibrium spin dynamics are proposed.

Preparation and Decoherence of Excitonic Entanglment in Coupled Quantum Dots and Cavity QED

Kehui Song

The paper proposes a scheme to generate such excitonic entanglement as that in Bell states and W-type states and implement quantum swap gate using a resonant single-mode cavity simultaneously interacting with many quantum dots.It also investigates the decoherence effect of the generated quantum states by means of fidelity and super-operator.It is shown that the generated quantum states are fragile and can become completely disentangled in a very short time.

INVESTIGATION OF DECOHERENCE OF SUPERCONDUCTING FLUX QUBIT ENTANGLED WITH THE ENVIRONMENT

Yinghua Ji, Yanyan Jiang

In the Born–Markov approximation, decoherence property of superconducting quantum circuit with a flux qubit is investigated. Using Kirchhoff's laws of classical circuit and quantum theory, we derive a Hamiltonian of the circuit. Then, combining with the Bloch–Redfield equation and in the two-level approximation, the energy relaxation time and the decoherence time of superconducting qubits is studied. Compared to the spin-boson model, this method not only investigates a decoherence being caused by the dissipative environment, but also the decoherence being generated by the dissipative elements in a superconducting electronic circuit. Hence, it is good for studying the decoherence of superconducting qubits.

Decoherence of the quantum gate in Milburn’s model of decoherence

Kyoungtae Kimm, Hwang-h. Kwon

We study the decoherence properties of a two-qubit quantum swap gate in Milburn's model of decoherence where the gate is realized by the quantum-dot system. We examine how the so-called intrinsic decoherence may degrade the gate purity and gate fidelity of the quantum swap gate and also present a potential source for the occurrence of Milburn's equation in the system of concern.

Semiconductor quantum dots for electron spin qubits

Wilfred G. van der Wiel, Michael P. Stopa, Tetsuo Kodera +2 more

We report on our recent progress in applying semiconductor quantum dots for spin-based quantum computation, as proposed by Loss and DiVincenzo (1998 Phys. Rev. A 57 120). For the purpose of single-electron spin resonance, we study different types of single quantum dot devices that are designed for the generation of a local ac magnetic field in the vicinity of the dot. We observe photon-assisted tunnelling as well as pumping due to the ac voltage induced by the ac current driven through a wire in the vicinity of the dot, but no evidence for ESR so far. Analogue concepts for a double quantum dot and the hydrogen molecule are discussed in detail. Our experimental results in laterally coupled vertical double quantum dot device show that the Heitler–London model forms a good approximation of the two-electron wavefunction. The exchange coupling constant J is estimated. The relevance of this system for two-qubit gates, in particular the SWAP operation, is discussed. Density functional calculations reveal the importance of the gate electrode geometry in lateral quantum dots for the tunability of J in realistic two-qubit gates.
