Abstract

We study the decoherence properties of a two-qubit quantum swap gate in Milburn's model of decoherence where the gate is realized by the quantum-dot system. We examine how the so-called intrinsic decoherence may degrade the gate purity and gate fidelity of the quantum swap gate and also present a potential source for the occurrence of Milburn's equation in the system of concern.

Intrinsic phonon decoherence and quantum gates in coupled lateral quantum-dot charge qubits

M. J. Storcz, Udo Hartmann, Sigmund Kohler +1 more

Recent experiments by [Hayashi et al., Phys. Rev. Lett. 91, 226804 (2003)] demonstrate coherent oscillations of a charge quantum bit in laterally defined quantum dots. We study the intrinsic electron-phonon decoherence and gate performance for the next step: a system of two coupled charge qubits. The effective decoherence model contains properties of local as well as collective decoherence. Decoherence channels can be classified by their multipole moments, which leads to different low-energy spectra. It is shown that due to the super-Ohmic spectrum, the gate quality is limited by the single-qubit Hadamard gates. It can be significantly improved, by using double dots with weak tunnel coupling.

Intrinsic decoherence in the atom-field interaction

H. M. Moya-Cessa, Vladimír Bužek, M. S. Kim +1 more

Milburn has recently proposed [Phys. Rev. A 44, 5401 (1991)] a variation of the Schr\"odinger equation which models decoherence as the system evolves through intrinsic mechanisms beyond conventional quantum mechanics rather than dissipative interaction with an environment. In this paper we give an exact solution of this equation and apply it to the Jaynes-Cummings model of atom-field interaction with nontrivial dynamics. We show that the intrinsic decoherence is responsible for deterioration of quantum coherence effects in this model, such as revivals of the atomic inversion. We discuss the applicability of the Milburn equation.

Exact Solution of the Milburn Equation for the Two—Mode Two—Photon Jaynes—Cummings Model

ZOUXu-Bo, YUJi-Hua

We adopt an algebraic method to study the two-mode two-photon Jaynes Cummings model governed by the Milburn equation and find an exact solution of Milburn equation of the system. The influence of the intrinsic decoherence on the nonclassical effects of the system is also discussed.``

Effect of Intrinsic Decoherence of Milburn's Model on Entanglement of Two-Qutrit States

Qiu Liang, Wang An-Min, Xiao-San Ma

We analyze the time evolution of entanglement of two-qutrit system within the framework of Milburn's model of intrinsic decoherence. The entanglement evolution relies not only on the parameters of system, but also on the concrete states either pure or mixed. The linear entropy used to measure the extent to which the intrinsic decoherence affects quantum states is evaluated.

Intrinsic decoherence in a system of three symmetric two-level atoms coupled to a single-mode cavity field

Tamer A. Seoudy

Abstract This work provides a theoretical study of a quantum system consisting of three two-level atoms coupled to a single-mode cavity field, focusing on the effects of intrinsic decoherence (ID). The system’s evolution is modeled using Milburn equation, with atoms initially excited and the field in a coherent state. The dynamics evolution of linear entropy (purity), the $$l_1$$ l 1 -norm (coherence), and the mean photon number (collapse-revival) are analyzed. The results indicate that, as the decoherence parameter $$\gamma$$ γ increases, purity and coherence decrease, and collapse-revival features are progressively suppressed. These findings highlight the key role of intrinsic decoherence in degrading the quantum properties of atom-field systems, which is essential for understanding and improving quantum technologies under intrinsic decoherence.
