Abstract

Quantum cryptography has attracted a lot of attention in recent years, due to its particular characteristic of perfect security in information transmission. The most successful and important application-quantum key distribution, which has been applied firstly in quantum cryptography, was introduced by taking BB84 protocol as an example. The current state of research and future directions in this new field of science was briefly presented.

Quantum key distribution is a catchword among industry specialist now a day.It is arising an alarming situation to all the current network security techniques. These are the basic properties of Quantum Mechanics, which makes a combination with network security. At present there are so many companies out there in market which are making progress it this fields day by day.Quantum cryptography is a very important technology now days as it is helping a lot to secure the future network communication. This particular field has gained the attention from industry as well as from academics. Here we are writing this paper to provide the general review of various fields belongs to Quantum Computing, but our main aim is to provide a brief review and analysis of recent development in the field of Quantum Key Distribution, most famous and developed field of Quantum Computing. This paper presents review of Quantum Computing including different application fields like Quantum public key cryptography, QKD, Quantum Authentication. First we discuss the basics of Quantum Cryptography then we discuss the definition of Quantum key Distribution, Various protocols of this field. Then after we discuss the opportunities in this field.

Quantum Cryptography: A Brief Review of the Recent Developments and Future Perspectives

Azeem Iqbal, Muhammad Junaid Aslam, Sahar Hafiza Nayab

Quantum Cryptography is a novel approach to make the information and network world more secure. Unlike classical cryptography, quantum cryptography ensures the security of communication because it is based on the laws of Quantum Mechanics; a branch of physics that deals with the fundamental behavior of matter and their energies to the levels of subatomic particles. These particles and their intrinsic properties such as photon polarization and entanglement allow us to develop an unbreakable system of cryptographic information. Conventionally, the security has been primarily concerned with the secured distribution of secret key carried over an insecure channel. However, in Quantum Cryptographic systems the transmission of secret key is done using aforementioned laws of nature through a secured quantum channel highly susceptible to intrusion detection. Consequently, the Quantum Key Distribution (QKD), in conjunction with protocols such as BB84 protocol has emerged as an ultimate modern secured communication system. This article concentrates on briefly reviewing quantum cryptography, some recent developments and reports of its vulnerabilities.

Quantum cryptography (QC) as an important technology to protect the security of the future network communication, has gained extensive attention from both academia and industry in recent years. This paper provides a concise up-to-date review of QC, including Quantum key distribution (QKD), Quantum authentication, Quantum public-key cryptography (QPKC), and so on. Our aim is to pave a comprehensive and solid starting ground for interested readers. We firstly clarify the definition of QC. Secondly, we present the current understanding of QC from different levels, including the basic knowledge of quantum information processing, QC protocols and the attacks in QC. Finally, we discuss the challenges and opportunities in this hopeful field.

The relevance of quantum cryptography in modern networking systems

Khalil F. Dajani, Robert Steven Owor, Zephyrinus C. Okonkwo

ABSTRACT. The combination of physics, mathematics, and computer science in quantum computing has developed from a visionary idea to one of the most fascinating and promising areas of quantum mechanics in the past two decades. Research in the field of quantum cryptography promises extremely fast, robust, and impenetrable electronic and photonic security; almost unbreakable! Moreover, the long standing eavesdropping problem of the “man in the middle ” attack may finally be solved once and for all. As computing power increases, and as hackers and attackers become more sophisticated, it is feared that sooner or later, traditional cryptography based on mathematically intractable algorithms may be no match for parallelized quantum based processors. For this reason, quantum cryptography, based on the laws of quantum statistical mechanics provides a welcome solution to this fear. This paper explores the basic tenets of quantum cryptography and how the mathematical principles therein apply to the quantum key distribution problem; a central concern in the implementation of quantum cryptography in distributed networks. The quantum key distribution protocol implemented in BB84 protocol is also described and compared to traditional cryptographic systems. A short overview of recent commercial implementations of quantum cryptography is presented with the encountered successes and limitations discussed. This paper explores the development of quantum networks, from the onset of the development of secure communication based on quantum cryptography and concludes with a brief outline of the key challenges facing quantum cryptography implementation in wireless applications and long haul communications.

Quantum Cryptography: A Pathway to Secure Communication

Ishika Giroti, Meenakshi Malhotra

Cryptography was introduced to prevent a third party from accessing and learning the contents of private messages sent during a communication process. Quantum Cryptography looks promising to provide a new level of secure communication by applying quantum mechanics concepts to cryptography. The research in the domain emphasizes that such systems can detect eavesdropping and ensure that it does not occur at all. This paper reviews the existing state of quantum cryptography, which includes an introduction to quantum computing and quantum key distribution algorithm, special attention is given to the implementation and working of the BB84 Protocol. It also provides a glimpse of post-quantum cryptography.

A Survey on Quantum Cryptography, its Protocols, Applications, and Challenges

Noman Nasir Minhas

This paper focuses on the concepts used in Quantum Cryptography and recent progress made. We look at the different categories of key distribution protocols that have been proposed and issues related to those. We then take an overview of two main approaches of communication using quantum cryptography concepts, i.e., ``Quantum Secure Direct Communication'' and ``Deterministic Secure Quantum Communication'', and limitations related to the usage of these schemes in a real-world system. At last, we list down the problems identified in the research and conclude our discussion by proposing areas of focus for future research.
