Abstract

The information eavesdropping techniques of spectral phase-coded OCDMA system were investigated. The soft- ware platform of the spectral phase-coded OCDMA system was built by using the Optisystem3.0 of the Optiwave Corporation and Matlab7.1,the model of user code interception in this system was put forward. The results of simulation based this model indicate that the address code of the user can be deciphered effectively by the eavesdropping scheme, the total system information can be intercepted, the spectral phase-coded OCDMA system isn1 secure as generally believed.

The code interception of spectral phase-encode optical code division multiple access (OCDMA) system is studied. A theoretical model of code interception based on SSFBG is presented and then the eavesdropping principle is also analyzed in theoretically. The result of eavesdropping is simulated by Optisystem3.0 and Matlab7.1. The simulation results have shown that the information of spectral phase-encoded OCDMA system can be eavesdropped effectively by using this model.

Interception of 2D incoherent optical code division multiple access system

Jing Yang

Two different information intercepting schemes were designed to resolve the security problems on a 2D incoherent Optical Code Division Multiple Access(OCDMA) system.Firstly,it was assumed that the interceptors knew enough information such as the mode of en/decoding,the constructing mode of address code, the transmission rate of the system, the value and quantity of wavebands, etc. Then, the energy distributions of optical signals at different time and wavebands in the OCDMA system were achieved using an advanced optoelectronic detection technique. Finally, the address codes existing in the OCDMA system could be deciphered effectively employing the energy distributions. The functions of the two intercepting schemes were simulated on the software platform of an incoherent OCDMA system with seven users and seven Reed-Solomon(R-S) codes received randomly, experimental results show that the interceptors can decipher the user signature codes effectively when the two-code keying is employed as the modulation way of the OCDMA system or the multi-users are in existence simultaneously. The results indicate that the security problem still exists in the 2D incoherent OCDMA system.

Simulation analysis of security performance of DPSKOCDMA network via virtual user scheme

Vishav Jyoti, Kaler, Rajinder Singh

A novel technique to enhance the security of an optical code division multipleaccess (OCDMA) system against eavesdropping is proposed. It has been observed that whena single user is active in the network, an eavesdropper can easily sift the data beingtransmitted without decoding. To increase the security, a virtual user scheme is proposed andsimulated on a differential phase shift keying (DPSK) OCDMA system. By using the virtualuser scheme, the security of the DPSK-OCDMA system can be effectively improved and themultiple access interference, which is generally considered to be a limitation of the OCDMAsystem, is used to increase the confidentiality of the system.

Security Performance of Spectral Amplitude Code OCDMA: Spectrally Encoded Pulse Bandwidth Effects

Hesham A. Bakarman, Sahbudin B. Shaari, Mahamod B. Ismail

This paper presents security performance of spectral amplitude code OCDMA based on Modified Double Weight (MDW) OCDMA scheme. The eavesdropper probability of correctly detected Spectral Encoding Chip Bandwidth (SECB) pulses in a code word is investigated. For MDW code with code length and code weight of 9 and 4 respectively, SNR of approximately 8 dB is sufficient for an eavesdropper to detect the SECB pulses with a probability of 50%. The eavesdropper performance is based on tapping and observing the encoded transmitted signal using a tuning band pass filter followed by envelope detector. The eavesdropper measures the intensity for each intercepted pulse and calculates its corresponding sig- nal to noise ratio (SNR). Spectral Encoding Chip Bandwidth effect is investigated by simulation. The possibility of eavesdropping increases with wide SECB. Our results show that using unipolar OCDMA code schemes based on MDW code system enhances the security with a low cost implementation in comparison to the bipolar ones.
