How Segments of Each Slit Affecting Non-interference Patterns and Interference Patterns in Double-Slit-Crossing-Double-Slit Experiments --- New Phenomenon/Mystery

Hui Peng

Young’s double slit experiment is the mystery of the quantum mechanics (Feynman). To explore the mystery, the double slit experiments have been extended to cross double slit experiments. In this article, utilize the fact that each slit of the cross double slit (e.g., one double slit crossing another double slit) is divided into three segments by other two slits crossing, we experimentally show the function of each segment of each slit in producing both non-interference patterns (including Pre-Particle patterns, Particle patterns and Transition Patterns) and the Interference patterns by eliminate the segments respectively and then, compare with the standard patterns of the cross double slit experiment. Although the non-interference patterns of different modified cross double slits are obviously different, the final interference patterns are surprisingly similar. This phenomenon is a new mystery and needs a consistent theoretical interpretation. In the case of applying the interference patterns of the cross double slit diaphragms, this phenomenon allows a bigger tolerance on the defect of making the cross double slit diaphragm.

Relationship between width of light source and visibility of interference streak

Shiping Wang

The visibility of the interference streak on a distant screen will be affected when the light source there has a certain width in a double-slit interference experiment. The visibility of the interference streak on the screen will decline to invisible level. The paper derives the quantitative relation to maximum admitted width of the light source used when unobservable circumstance on the screen appears.

Non-Parallel-Curve-Double Slit Experiments--- Butterfly-shape Interference Pattern and Optical-Butterfly-Effect

Hui Peng

Feynman (1956) called the double slit experiment "[…] it contains the only mystery. We cannot make the mystery go away by ‘explaining’ how it works". The photons are described by probability wave functions. The wave functions collapse to photons when measuring. However, the collapse of the wave function leads to the inconsistent/incomplete of the quantum mechanics (Penrose, 2022). In this article, we show that, the light is photons, not waves. And it is photons that produce the non-wave pattern and wave patterns in the same experiment. We refer to the phenomenon as “PhotoWave Phenomenon”. We experimentally show for the first-time the novel phenomenon that is new mystery, non-parallel-curve-double slit produces Butterfly-shape interference patterns. We show the sensitive dependence of patterns on the structures of apparatus of slits: changes in the structure of the slits result in profound differences in pattern. We refer to it as “Optical-Butterfly-effect”. The PhotoWave phenomena support Penrose’s statement. Advances in optical experiments, i.e., PhotoWave phenomena, demand a complete theory. The experiments provide the comprehensive phenomena for further developing theoretical model to study the nature of the light and the light wave theories.
