Abstract

The superposition of two excited coherent states with identical intensity and different phases are constructed. Its antibunching effect and amplitude-squared squeezing are studied numerically. The result shows that as the light intensity and the excited photon number increase, the antibunching effect decreases and the amplitude-squared squeezing increases. The amplitude-squared squeezing is influenced by the phase difference.

Amplitude-squared squeezing of superposition of coherent states

Muhammad Ashfaq Ahmad, Ren Min, Ma Ai-Qun +1 more

This paper discusses the amplitude-squared squeezing for the superposition of two coherent states with their phase differences being separately π/2, 3π/2, and π, as well as for the superposition state of two pseudoclassical states. According to the analysis, it is found that the superposition state of two coherent states with their phase differences π/2 and 3π/2, and the superposition state of two pseudoclassical states both do exhibit the amplitude-squared squeezing. Also, some specific states are found to exhibit even stronger squeezing effects when relative phase of the superposition is equal to the average photon number. Amplitude-squared squeezing is dependent on the difference in phase between two coherent states.

Superposition of excited coherent states and their non-classical properties

Lan Hai-jiang

The superposition of excited coherent states was constructed by superpositioning two excited coherent states of the same intensity and mutual phase conjugation, and their Wigner functions,second-order coherence degree and Mandel Q factors were calculated, upon which their non-classical properties were analyzed. The numerical results show that, the Wigner functions of the superposition of excited coherent states may become negative, and their second-order coherence degree and Mandel Q factors are both less than 1.Hence,the research shows that the quasi-probability distribution of the superposition of excited coherent states may become negative, and their light field has anti-bunching effects, with the distribution of photon number being of sub-Poisson distribution. Therefore, these superposition states are quantum states with non-classical properties.

The effect of two-photon quantum interference on amplitude-squared squeezing of a quantum field

Rui‐Hua Xie, Song Yu

In this paper, we consider a superposition of a weak coherent field and a two-photon source and examine the amplitude-squared squeezing (ASS) properties of the combined field. We demonstrate that the efficient and lasting ASS effect of the field could be observed due to constructive two-photon quantum interference. The relationship between ASS and photon antibunching effects is discussed. It is found that photon antibunching may accompany weak ASS, but in most cases ASS effects appear accompanying photon bunching.

Antibunching Effect of the Excited Two-Parameter Deformed Even and Odd Coherent States

Jun Jiang

The excited odd qs-coherent state and excited even qs-coherent state are constructed. The q , s , and m dependences of the antibunching effect are numerically studied. It is shown that for small r , the excited even qs-coherent state exhibits strong antibunching effect but the even qs-coherent state exhibits strong bunching effect; When the q ( q ≤ 1) is far from 1, as r2 increase, the second-order qs-correlation function exhibits oscillating phenomenon (i.e. alternates between antibunching effect and bunching effect) , whose amplitude and period increase as s and q decrease, but are approximately independent of m; When q→1, the second-order qs-correlation function also exhibits oscillating phenomenon, whose amplitude and period not only increase as 5 decreases but also are dependent on m; In general, the second-order qs -correlation function is more sensitive to s than to q .

Amplitude-squared squeezing in the multiphoton Jaynes-Cummings model: Effects of the atomic coherent states and detuning

Mubeen A. Mir

An analysis of the effects of detuning and the superposition angle on amplitude-squared (AS) squeezing is presented for the one- and two-photon Jaynes-Cummings model (JCM) using coherent and squeeze inputs. In the one-photon JCM for squeezed inputs, it is shown that the degree of AS squeezing increases as the detuning increases. The two-photon JCM, on the other hand, displays this characteristic only for coherent input in a small range of values of the detuning. The superposition angle affects the degree of AS squeezing more significantly for a detuned field than for a tuned one. The behavior of AS squeezing becomes independent of the value of the superposition angle in both the models for large initial average photon number, n\ifmmode\bar\else\textasciimacron\fi{}, with any value of detuning and for large detuning with any value of n\ifmmode\bar\else\textasciimacron\fi{}.
