Abstract

Time evolution of the supercurrent in mesoscopic Josephson junctions has been studied when junctions interacted with three-mode squeezed electromagnetic field(defined by C.F.Lo in Phys.Rev.A V47 733-735,when generalized multimode squeezed states at).The relation between quantum collapse and revival phenomenon in time evolution of the supercurrent and squeezing parameter with different mode-and-mode parameters of the three-mode quantized electromagnetic field is showed.

Supercurrent behavior of the mesoscopic Josephson junction coupled to the multimode electromagnetic field is investigated. The basic theoretic sketch of the fully quantum mechanical system for the multimode squeezed state is build. It is shown that the time evolution of the supercurrent in the multimode field can exhibit more complex behavior than in a single-mode field case. The quantum collapse and revival properties of the supercurrent for a three-mode squeezed vacuum state are shown.

Collapse and Revival of Supercurrent in Mesoscopic Josephson Junctions in the Presence of Nonclassical Electromagnetic Field

Shao Bin, Zou Jian, Xing Xiu-San

Dynamic behavior of the supercurrent in a mesoscopic Josephson junction in the presence of a nonclassical electromagnetic field is investigated. It is shown that for the squeezed state the time evolution of the supercurrent can exhibit quantum collapse and revival phenomenon, while for the coherent state the phenomenon does not occur.

Dynamic behavior of the supercurrent in mesoscopic Josephson junctions in the presence of a nonclassical electromagnetic field

Zou Jian, Shao Bin, Xing Xiu-San

The dynamic behavior of the supercurrent in mesoscopic Josephson junctions interacting with various nonclassical electromagnetic fields (NEMF) is investigated. It is shown that for squeezed number states, squeezed states, and a superposition of two coherent states, the supercurrent exhibits a collapse and revival (CR) phenomenon that is well known in the context of quantum optics. For coherent states and number states, this phenomenon does not occur. This CR phenomenon, which is due to the granular nature of the field, is also absent if the field is considered classically. The dynamic behavior of the supercurrent fluctuation is also studied and it is found that, generally, when the fluctuation is large, the supercurrent exhibits collapses, and, when the fluctuation is small, the supercurrent exhibits revivals. Finally, the amplitude of current-voltage steps for various NEMF's are studied in some detail.

DYNAMIC BEHAVIOR OF SUPERCURRENT IN MESOSCOPIC JOSEPHSON JUNCTION INTERACTING WITH CORRELATED TWO MODE SU(1,1) COHERENT STATES OF QUANTUM ELECTROMAGNETIC FIELD

ZOU JIAN, SHAO BIN, Xing Xiu-San +1 more

The dynamic behaviors of supercurrent in mesoscopic Josephson junction in the presence of a dc bias voltage V0-and of correlated two-mode SU(1,1) coherent states of quantum electromagnetic field, as well as current-voltage steps and Shapiro dc current, are investigated. It is shown that the time evolution of supercurrent exhibits collapse and revival phenomenon, but for non-correlated two-mode coherent states it does not exhibit such a phenomenon. And the current-voltage steps of correlated two-mode SU(1,1) coherent states of quantum electromagnetic field are different from that of classical electromagnetic field and that of non correlated two-mode coherent states.

Dynamic interaction of mesoscopic Josephson junctions with quantized electromagnetic fields

Le‐Man Kuang, Yiwen Wang, Mo‐Lin Ge

Dynamic evolution of a mesoscopic Josephson junction (MJJ) interacting with quantized electromagnetic fields (QEMF) is investigated. It is shown that the current-voltage steps of the MJJ can reflect quantum coherences of the external QEMF; these characteristics may be used to distinguish different types of quantum electromagnetic fields. It is found that supercurrent fluctuations exhibit periodic oscillations in the time evolution. Supercurrent correlation functions are also studied in some detail. It is shown that the thermal noise in the external electromagnetic field seriously affects the second-order correlation function of the supercurrent. \textcopyright{} 1996 The American Physical Society.

Periodic Revivals of Squeezing in a Mesoscopic Josephson Junction

Jian Zou, Bin Shao

The interaction between a mesoscopic Josephson junction and a quantized electromagnetic field is discussed quantum mechanically. Within the external field approximation, it is shown that if the field is prepared in a coherent state and the junction is initially in its lowest energy level, squeezing can occur in such a system.
