Abstract

When single mode coherent light field interacts with two-level atomic mixed-state,the properties of the atomic population inversion is studied by means of the multi-photon anti-Jaynes-Cummings model. The influence for the parameters of average photon number of the coherent light field, transition photon number and mixing extent of the atomic initial state on the atomic population inversion has been discussed. The results show that the collapse and revival phenomena of periodicity will also appear in the two-level atomic population inversion. With the increasing of the average photon number of the coherent light field and the transition photon number, the revival period and attenuation time of collapse will change. With the increase of the average photon number of the coherent light field, the oscillation frequency of the atomic population inversion increases correspondingly. The revival period and attenuation time of collapse will not change, but the oscillation amplitude of the atomic population inversion will be increase as the decreasing of mixing extent of the atomic initial state.

Population Inversion of Two Atoms under the phase decoherence in the multiphoton process

Dong Zhang, Qi Mu

By means of the quantum theory, the population inversion of two atoms in the system of two two-level atoms coupled to a light field in the Binomial Optical Field are investigated in the presence of phase decoherence in the multiphoton Tavis -Cumming Model. The influences of the phase decoherence coefficient, the parameters η of the binomial optical field, the maximum number of photons and the number of the transitional photons on the properties of the population inversion of two atoms have been discussed. The results show that the phase decoherence reduced the oscillation amplitude of the population inversion of two atoms and destroyed the atomic quantum characteristic.Changing the number of the transitional photons, evolved cycle and evolved intensity the population inversion of two atoms can be changed. The phenomena of collapse and revival disappear as photon number increase. When the binomial optical state changes from a coherent state to a Fock state, the oscillation frequency of the atomic population reduces gradually, the phenomena of collapse and revival vanishes gradually.

Anti-Jaynes-Cummings interaction of a two-level atom with squeezed light: A comparison with the Jaynes-Cummings interaction

Christopher Mayero, Joseph Akeyo Omolo

We considered the anti-Jaynes-Cummings (AJC) interaction of a two-level atom in an initial ground state interacting with a field mode in an initial squeezed coherent state at arbitrary values of squeeze parameter r and provided the Jaynes-Cummings (JC) interaction as a comparison. We analysed the degree of entanglement (DEM) measured by the von Neumann entropy and the nature of the field quantified by the Mandel Q parameter in relation to the atomic population inversion during the AJC interaction and separately the corresponding JC interaction. We noted in our examples that at r>1.4, photon statistics evolved to super-Poissonian from sub-Poissonian during the respective AJC, JC interactions. Further, for high values of r, the form of the time evolution of atomic population inversion depicted enhanced ringing revivals at the collapse region in comparison to the case of an initial coherent state. What is more, at higher values of r the time evolution of DEM showed more rapid oscillations and recorded higher values, concurrently, an increase in the degree of mixedness.

Quantum properties of atom and two-mode filed with intrinsic decoherence

Yun‐Jie Xia

The atomic population inversion in the system of a two-mode SU(1,1) coherent field interacting with a two-level atom is investigated by solving Milburn equation. The effects on the atomic population inversion induced by the intrinsic decoherence, the two-mode photon number and the mean photon number are analyzed. The results show that the collapse and revival phenomena of the atomic population inversion will appear when the two- mode photon number is not zero and will disappear gradually with the decrease of the mean photon number. The collapse and revival phenomena of the atomic population inversion will also appear with the intrinsic decoherence, but the amplitude of the Rabi oscillation will be reduced to zero with the evolution of the time.

Quantum collapse-revival effect in a supersymmetric Jaynes–Cummings model and its possible application in supersymmetric qubits

Shi Yao Chong, Jian Qi Shen

Abstract In the photon-atom interaction, one of the most interesting phenomena can be collapse-revival effect in population inversion of atomic levels. Since a single-photon-transition Jaynes–Cummings model can be generalized to a multiphoton-transition Jaynes–Cummings model, of which the Hamiltonian can exhibit a supersymmetric Lie algebra structure, in this paper, quantum collapse and revival in atomic population inversion, which is a collaborative effect of a variety of quantum Rabi oscillations with various quantum Rabi frequencies, is studied for the supersymmetric multiphoton-transition Jaynes–Cummings model. In the literature, it has been pointed out that quantum collapse and revival might find an application in qubit design. We expect that a supersymmetric two-level system might serve as such a kind of qubits. Compared with ordinary two-level qubits, more information could be stored in the basis vectors of supersymmetric qubits, and this could increase the degrees of freedom of tensor product (multi-component extension) of basis vectors of this multiphoton-atom interacting system. For this reason, some characteristics of the collapse-revival effect driven by ordinary coherent states and Yurke–Stoler coherent states will be addressed in this paper. The influence of various characteristic parameters of this supersymmetric Jaynes–Cummings model and the quantized optical fields on the quantum collapse and revival in the population inversion will be indicated in some numerical illustrative examples.

The Atomic Population Inversion in the System of Binomial Optical Field Interacting with a Two-level Atom Under intrinsic Decoherece Condition

Cui Ying-hua

With the consideration of Milburn model of intrinsic decoherece, the atomic population inversion in the system of the binomial optical field interacting with a two-level atom is inverstigated. The influences of instrinsic decoherece, the parameters η of the binomial optical field and photon number on the atomic population inversion are discussed. The result show that the phenomena of collapse and revival will also appear with the intrinsic decoherece. The amplitude of the Rabi oscillation will be reduced to zero with the evolution of being time. The decay process is at faster rate with the values of the parameters of the instrinsic decoherece smaller. When the binomial optical state changes from a coherent state to a middle state then to a Fock state, the phenomena of collapse and revival can also occur. The Rabi oscillation frequency of the atomic population increases apparently. The phenomena of collapse and revival disappear as photon number increases.

Nonclassical properties of a two-level atom interacting with photon-added coherent light

Pang Hua-Feng

By founding multiphoton Janes-Cumming model of a two-level atom interacting with photon-added coherent light, the atomic inversion is studied with using the technique of numerical simulation when the photon-added number m changes(m≤2).And the squeezing effect of two quadrature components of the atomic dipole is discussed. The result shows that the revival-collapse phenomenon appearing in the evolution of atomic inversion presents periodicity with the number m increasing;and the squeezing phenomena of atomic dipole moment have been generated when m=1,2.
