Numerical Simulation and Analyses of Young's Double Slits Experiment

HE Long-qing

Young's double slits experiment was simulated by means of field superposition and numerical calculations. The effects on the interference fringes by the width of source, the width of slits, and the distance from the source to the double slits were discussed. The results showed that the visibility of the fringes decreased when the width of source and the distance between the two slits decreased.

The Study of the Movement Principle of Young's Interference Fringes

Cao Liang-teng

In Thomas Young's interference experiment, a series of light and dark fringes on a viewing screen are observed. Now if the slit is moved small displacement upwards or downwards , or regardless of in the front or back of the slit, which the slit with some kind of medium plate is coved, or the whole instrument is put in some transparent fliud , how is the law of the interference fringes on the screen ? This article will discuss it.

Strange patterns of light

Tao Tang

In a modern version of Young's double slit experiment, a laser beam passes through two narrow slits and creates an interference pattern of bright and dark fringes on a distant screen. We place magnifying glasses between the double-slit and the screen, and when a laser beam passes through the double-slit and magnifying glasses, strange patterns will appear on the screen.

Step-by-step Evolution of Young’s Double-slit Interference Fringes Using Boundary Diffraction Wave Theory

Raj Kumar

Present work reports formation of Young’s double-slit interference fringes using the Young's own theory of diffraction called the theory of boundary diffraction wave. Theory demands that double-slit interference fringes are generated due to superposition of boundary diffraction waves originating from the edges of the slits due to their physical interaction with the incident light. The theoretical development is further verified with the experimental observations.

The Computer Simulation of Intensity Distribution in Young's Double-slit Interference

Guo Lin

Considering double-slit interference as an optical wave passing a through double-slit hard aperture, the intensity expression of Young's double-slit interference is derived based on Collins diffraction integral. The intensity distribution of Young's double-slit interference is graphically demonstrated. The interference fringes will be changes by adjusting the parameter of slit width, double-slit separation, incident wavelength, etc. Meanwhile, the causes for the different brightness at bright fringe center in Young's double-slit interference are discussed. Additionally, the interference fringe width is calculated. The result agrees well with optical interference theory. As an expanding teach method, it will be helpful to understand the double-slit interference characteristics.
