Abstract

Erwin Schrouml Dinger, the Nobel winner,is a versatile person, who is not only a physician, but also a philosopher and poet. His versatility and eminent achievements, especially his persistent pursue of the aesthetics of mathematics and his creation of wave mechanics, not only bring great and profound influence on development of physics in 21st century, but also set a glorious example for promoting quality-oriented education mode which combines science and humanities in high institutions nowadays.

Erwin Schro¨dinger

Erwin Schro¨dinger was born in Vienna in 1887, and, by 1927, principally as a result of his celebrated discovery of wave mechanics, he was recognized as one of the most outstanding physicists of his time. In that year he succeeded Max Planck in the prestigious chair of theoretical physics in the University of Berlin and it seemed certain that he would spend the rest of his career there, but the unsettled nature of European politics in the 1930s and 1940s resulted in him instead spending the years 1939 to 1956 in Dublin, where he was Director of the School of Theoretical Physics in the Institute for Advanced Studies from its foundation in 1940.

Advances in Wave Mechanics Research

Zhiqiang Huang

This paper get a general survey of advances in Wave Mechanics. The development of Wave Mechanics goes back to ancient times. The principle of least action is the source of Wave Mechanics,so it is the mother of several principles.Erwin Schrdinger was the greatest contribution scientist of Wave Mechanics, secondary was Louis de Broglie. The Schrdinger equation not only can treat the movement of microscopic particles, but also can analysed some of the macroscopic scientific problems. There's no time for Schrdinger to study the non-linear Schrdinger equation(NLS),but de Broglie devoted oneself to the study of nonlinear Wave Mechanics, and established contact with the solitary waves. At present, the most research works involve the nonlinear differential equations in mathematics, but ignore the physical meaning. In the sciences of waves, the study of electro-magnetic waves are important field, many problems demand clarification. From the Wave Mechanics point of view,we must integrate the classic electro-magnetic wave equation with the Quantum Mechanics wave eqution, the isolated discussion age of classic fields and waves was extremely early ended.

Erwin Schrödinger, 1887-1961

Walter Heinrich Heitler, Walter Heinrich Heitler

Abstract Erwin Schrödinger was born on 12 August 1887 in Vienna. His father was a Viennese and came from a very cultured family. The ancestors of his mother came from England which explains why Schrodinger spoke and wrote a practically flawless English. The relationship between father and son was excellent. To the growing boy the father was friend and teacher and he never tired of answering the inquisitive questions which the bright and interested boy produced in plenty. His elementary education was private and was carried out at home. At the age of 11 he entered the Akademische Gymnasium, a first-class grammar school which emphasized classical education, Latin and Greek. In spite of his main interest in mathematics and physics he loved the old languages as well as classical German and foreign poetry, and he was an addict of the famous Burgtheater in Vienna. He entered the University of Vienna in 1906. His great and beloved teacher there was F. Hasenohrl who had just succeeded to the chair of Boltzmann and who considered it his privilege and duty to continue the work of this great theoretical physicist. Hasenohrl was a very gifted physicist indeed and probably he would have been capable of great achievements had he not been killed in 1916 serving at the Italian front. He exercised a profound and lasting influence on the student Schrodinger. When much later Schrodinger received the Nobel Prize he said: ‘had Hasenohrl not been killed so young he would now be here in my place.’ Schrodinger himself served during the war as an artillery officer in Italy. From 1910 onwards his first publications began to appear. They were concerned with statistical problems, dielectrics, magnetism, and so on. Later on he also worked on X-ray diffraction in lattices, following the great discovery of von Laue in 1912.

Quantum mechanics 2025 at the crossroads of science and humanities: Towards the epiphany of a new cultural world a century later

Marco Giliberti, Enrico Giannetto, Katarzyna Wyborska +3 more

A century after its formulation, we discuss the multifaceted implications for education of the vast cultural connections that quantum mechanics (QM) has helped establish between physics and other disciplines. Drawing on the most recent research in QM education, we will address the epistemological paradigms that underpin our understanding of nature and the cultural significance of this theory for the intellectual development of students at various educational levels; always maintaining a careful focus on the fundamental educational challenge of teaching and learning about the nature of science through physics education.

THE THEORY OF QUANTUM AND IT'S INFLUENCE TO MODERN SOCIETY

Zhang Wu-na

At the end of 19th century and the beginning of 20th century, deep crisis of the physics promoted itself great revolution, thus the quantum mechanics and the theory of relativity emerged. The establishment of quantum theory, opened the people to know the microcosm, has laid the solid rationale for the physics and even the entire natural sciences development. No one branch of modern physics and correlated peripheral subjects are not based on quantum .Quantum theory are changing modern science and technology profoundly and influencing humanity's thought as well. Reviewing the development of the course, we can feel the far-reaching influence of the quantum theory on the people's epistemology and the world outlook.
