A more rational scheme of time reversal transformation is provided in the paper. In the new scheme, the transition probabilities are invariable under time reversal in the electromagnetic interaction processes of pure sates. But the evolutions of macro-processes can't keep unchanged under time reversal owing to the interference effects of probability amplitudes between non-pure state processes. In this way, the so-called reversibility paradox, i.e. time reversal is reversible in micro-processes but irreversible in the macro-processes, can eliminated completely.

The aim of this paper is to analyze the concepts of time-reversal invariance and irreversibility in the so-called ’time-asymmetric quan-tum mechanics’. We begin with pointing out the difference between these two concepts. On this basis, we show that irreversibility is not as tightly linked to the semigroup evolution laws of the theory-which lead to its non time-reversal invariance- as usually suggested. In turn, we argue that the irreversible evolutions described by the theory are coarse-grained processes. 1 1
Electromagnetic Radiation 20time reversal, for the motion equations of quantum mechanics and the Hamiltonian of electromagnetic interaction are unchanged under time reversal. However, most processes related to laser and nonlinear optics are actually high nonequilibrium ones.As we known that time reversal symmetry will generally be violated in non-equilibrium processes. It is proved in this paper that after the retarded effect of radiation fields is taken into account, the time reversal symmetry will be violated in light's high order stimulated radiation and absorption processes with ml lm BB , although the Hamiltonian of electromagnetic interaction is still unchanged under time reversal. The transition probability of third order process is calculated and the revised formula of nonlinear optics polarizability is deduced in this paper. Many phenomena of time reversal symmetry violation in non-linear optics just as sum frequency, double frequency, different frequencies, double stable states, self-focusing and self-defocusing, echo phenomena, as well as optical self-transparence and self absorptions and so on are analyzed. The reason to cause symmetry violation is that some filial or partial transition processes of bounding state atoms are forbidden or can't be achieved due to the law of energy conservation. These restrictions can cause the symmetry violation of time reversal of other partial transition processes which can be actualized really. These realizable filial or partial processes which violate time reversal symmetry generally are just the practically observed physical processes. The symmetry violation is also relative to the initial state's asymmetries of bounding atoms before and after time reversal. For the electromagnetic interaction between non-bounding atoms and radiation fields, there is no this kind of symmetry violation of time reversal. For example, in the experiments of particle physics in accelerators, we can not observe the symmetry violation of time reversal. At last, the influences of symmetry violation of time reversal on the foundation theory of laser and non-equilibrium statistical physics are discussed. The phenomena of producing laser without the reversion of particle population and transition without radiation can be well explained. The result indicates that the irreversibility of evolution processes of macrosystems originates from the irreversibility of micro-processes.The irreversibility paradox can be eliminated thoroughly.By introducing retarded electromagnetic interaction, the forces between classical changed particles are not conservative ones.Based on them, we can establish the revised Liouville equation which is irreversible under time reversal. In this way, we can lay a really rational dynamic foundation for classical non-equilibrium statistical mechanics. This is Part 1 of a four part paper, intended to redress some of the most fundamental confusions in the subject of physical time directionality, and represent the concepts accurately. There are widespread fallacies in the subject that need to be corrected in introductory courses for physics students and philosophers. Parts 1 and 2 are about quantum mechanics, Part 3 is about fundamental concepts, and Part 4 is about cosmology. We start in Part 1 by analysing the time reversal symmetry of quantum probability laws. Time reversal symmetry is defined as the property of invariance under the time reversal transformation, T: t -> -t. It is shown that quantum mechanics (classical or relativistic) is strongly time asymmetric in its probability laws. This contradicts the orthodox analysis, found throughout the conventional literature on physical time, which claims that quantum mechanics is time symmetric or reversible. This is widely claimed as settled scientific fact, and large philosophical and scientific conclusions are drawn from it. But it is an error. The fact is that while quantum mechanics is widely claimed to be reversible on the basis of two formal mathematical properties (that it does have), these properties do not represent invariance under the time reversal transformation. A recent experiment (Batalhao at alia, 2015) showing irreversibility of quantum thermodynamics is discussed as an illustration of this result. Most physicists remain unaware of the errors, decades after they were first demonstrated. Orthodox specialists in the philosophy of time who are aware of the error continue to refer to the ‘time symmetry’ or ‘reversibility’ of quantum mechanics anyway – and exploit the ambiguity to claim false implications about physical time reversal symmetry in nature. The excuse for perpetrating the confusion is that, since it is has now become customary to refer to the formal properties of quantum mechanics as ‘reversibility’ or ‘time reversal symmetry’, we should just keep referring to them by this name, even though they are not time reversal symmetry. This causes endless confusion, in attempts to explain the physical irreversibility of our universe, and in philosophical discussions of implications of physics for the nature of time. The failure of time reversal symmetry in quantum mechanics changes the interpretation of modern physics in a deep way. It changes the problem of explaining the real irreversibility found throughout nature.
Abstract Quantum mechanics for describing the behavior of microscopic entities and thermodynamics for describing macroscopic systems exhibit separate time concepts. Whereas many theories of modern physics interpret processes as reversible, in thermodynamics, an expression for irreversibility and the so-called time arrow has been developed: the increase of entropy. The divergence between complete reversibility on the one hand and irreversibility on the other is called the paradox of time. Since more than hundred years many efforts have been devoted to unify the time concepts. So far, the efforts were not successful. In this paper a solution is proposed on the basis of matter-energy equivalence with an energetic distinction between matter and mass. By refraining from interpretations predominant in modern theoretical physics, the first and second laws of thermodynamics can be extended to fundamental laws of nature, which are also valid at quantum level.
Based on the general thought that mechanics cannot be absolutely exact, supported by pulsed nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) experiments on the reversal of time in spin systems, we postulate existence of a probability which do not follow from the Schroudinger equation, or X-probability. It is shown that the X-probability allows explain irreversibility of evolution of macrosystems, and also creates a basis for using probabilistic methods in statistical mechanics and for deliverance from the mechanical determinism.
The time reversal and irreversibility in conventional quantum mechanics are compared with those of the rigged Hilbert space quantum mechanics. We discuss the time evolution of Gamow and Gamow-Jordan vectors and show that the rigged Hilbert space case admits a new kind of irreversibility which does not appear in the conventional case. The origin of this irreversibility can be traced back to different initial-boundary conditions for the states and observables. It is shown that this irreversibility does not contradict the experimentally tested consequences of the time-reversal invariance of the conventional case but instead we have to introduce a new time reversal operator.
