Abstract

By Application of the V-F-B model which is obtained by combining the Vasquez-Flint (V-F) model for donor-acceptor energy transfer and the model of Burshtein for donor-donor energy migration, the experimental luminescence decay curves of 4S3/2 state of Er3+ in LaF3 at 295K for four different concentrations are re-simulated successfully. It is found that in this system the donor-acceptor interaction is dipole-dipole interaction, and that the donor-acceptor interaction constant CDA is 4.75×10-41cm6/s. The results are all in agreement with the previous results of Okamoto. However, the hopping time τ0 obtained from the above simulation in proportional to xD-1.237 (xD is the donor concentration), which is different from the theoretical dependence on the donor concentration (that is τ0∝xD-2). In addition, by considering donor-acceptor energy transfer and donor-donor energy migration within the V-F model at the same time, we obtain the estimated values of the hopping time τ0′ for four different concentrations, which are in reasonable agreement with the values of τ0 obtained from the above simulation. It seems that the V-F-B model is rather self-consistent.

A New Approach to Donor-Acceptor Energy Transfer Modelling in Rare-Earth-Doped Media Using the Rate Equations

Anatoly S. Yasukevich, Natali Gusakova, Н. В. Кулешов

A generalisation of rate equations simulating donor-acceptor energy transfer and describing the time evolution of donors' and acceptors' luminescence power is proposed. These equations were supplemented by a time-dependent probability of the direct static disordered donor-acceptor energy transfer. A clear physical interpretation of the terms in the equations describing the various stages of the donor-acceptor energy transfer is given.

Transfer of excitation energy between trivalent rare earth ions in crystals

Georgii M. Zverev, I. I. Kuratev, А. М. Онищенко

An analysis is made of the transfer of the excitation energy between trivalent rare earth ions in crystals. The multipole interaction mechanisms are considered and allowances made for the migration of the excitation energy between donor ions. The proposed model is used in estimating the probabilities of elementary energy transfer events, diffusion coefficients of excitations, and concentrations of quenching centers in the case of several rare earth ions in Y3Al5O12. A comparison is made of the experimental and calculated concentration and temperature dependences of the transfer of the excitation energy between trivalent rare earth ions in Y3Al5O12 crystals; the agreement between the calculations and the experiment is good.

Theoretical Calculation of the Energy Transfer between Donor-receptor in Rare Earth Doped System

FU Zhen-xing

The energy transfer between donor-receptor in rare earth doped system is calculated by means of dynamic equation of energy transfer. The results show that the decay curve of luminescence of the donor does not exhibit exponent because the random distribution of receptors and the effect of the random distribution of receptors on the delay curve must be considered.

Kinetics of nonstationary migration-accelerated energy transfer in a solid body doped with rare-earth and transition-metal ions

N. A. Glushkov

The kinetics of migration-accelerated energy transfer is studied in systems based on a massive crystal and a sample consisting of spherical nanoparticles up to and including four or five orders of magnitude of the kinetic expulsion depth for the case of donor excitation by a short (τpulse < τ D ) pulse under the action of a multipole mechanism of donor-donor and donor-acceptor energy transfer. The susceptibility of the chosen systems to the implementation of the “jump” mechanism of excitation transfer in them is estimated. It is shown that the nonstationary mechanism of excitation transfer is implemented in the chosen systems based on a sample consisting of nanoparticles.

A Novel Mechanism for Energy Transfer between Rare Earth Ions

W. Stręk

The theoretical understanding of resonant energy transfer between a pair of spatially localized lanthanide ions has been developed by Kushida [1]. His model was based on a simple application of Förster-Dexter theory [2,3] in which the transition rate of dipole-dipole energy transfer from the initial state | Dα Aβ > to the final state |Dα Aβ′> is proportional to the square of of modulus of where R is the separation between the donor - D and the acceptor - A ions.

Cooperative Quenching Energy Transfer in La1−xCexF3 Crystal

Tasoltan T. Basiev, Maxim E. Doroshenko, В. В. Осико

A new phenomena of nonradiative cooperative energy transfer from optically excited single Nd3+ ion to the cooperative acceptor formed by a pair of Ce3+ ions and from single excited Er3+ ion simultaneously to three Ce3+ ions acting as a nonlinear cooperative acceptor was observed by measuring the concentrational quenching of donor ions fluorescence in solid solution of La1−xCexF3.
