Measurement Induced Nonlocality and Entanglement in Two-qubit System

Abstract

In this paper, we compare the measurement induced nonlocality (MIN) and entanglement for few well known two-qubit states. We observe that there exists nonlocality in the absence of entanglement, with the behaviour of MIN similar to the quantum correlation measure using mutually unbiased bases. For the thermal state of two interacting spin-1/2 particles, we show the possibility of nonlocality without entanglement as long as the spins are not influenced by an external magnetic field.

Nonlocal correlation in Heisenberg spin models

R. Muthuganesan, R. Sankaranarayanan

In this paper, we investigate nonlocal correlation (beyond entanglement) captured by measurement induced nonlocality and geometric quantum discord for a pair of interacting spin-1/2 particles at thermal equilibrium. It is shown that both the measures are identical in measuring the correlation. We show that nonlocal correlation between the spins exist even without entanglement and the correlation vanishes only for maximal mixture of product bases. We also observe that while interaction between the spins is responsible for enhancement of correlation, this non-classicality decreases with the intervention of external magnetic field.

Measurement-induced nonlocality in the two-qubit Heisenberg XY model

Chen Wen-xue, Yu-Xia Xie, Xiao-Qiang Xi

Quantum correlations are essential for quantum information processing (QIP). Measurement-induced nonlocality (MIN) is a good measure of quantum correlation, and is favored for its conceptual implication and potential application. We investigated here the particular behaviors of the geometric and entropic measures of MIN in the two-qubit Heisenberg XY model and revealed the effects of anisotropic parameter γ and the external magnetic field B on them. Our results showed that both γ and B can serve as efficient controlling parameters for tuning MIN in the XY model.

Signatures of intrinsic decoherence and weak measurement on quantum correlations

S. Bhuvaneswari, R Muthuganesan, R. Radha

Abstract In this article, we consider a pair of spin-1/2 particles with squeezing coupling serving as the physical carrier of quantum information. We then examine the dynamics of quantum correlation quantified by the entanglement and measurement-induced nonlocality (MIN) under the intrinsic decoherence. The impact of intrinsic decoherence on the dynamical behaviors of quantum correlations is investigated. We show that the MIN quantities are more robust, while intrinsic decoherence cause sudden death in entanglement. Besides, we highlight the role of spin squeezing coupling and external magnetic field on quantum correlation measures. Finally, we investigate the impact of weak measurement on MIN.

Facets of nonlocal correlation under non-Hermitian system

J. Ramya Parkavi, R. Muthuganesan, V. K. Chandrasekar

In this article, we investigate the dynamics of a bipartite system under the action of a local non-Hermitian system. We study the quantum correlation of the bipartite system quantified by the entanglement, measurement-induced nonlocality (MIN) based on Hilbert-Schmidt norm, trace distance, and Bell inequality. We find that the quantum correlations of the system depend on the initial conditions and system parameters. We observe that the states with nonzero quantum correlation obey the Bell inequality even in the absence of entanglement. Moreover, the Bell inequality completely fails to manifest the nonlocality for the mixed quantum state. However, we have identified the nonlocal attributes of the mixed quantum state in terms of MIN and trace distance MIN. Our results show that the trace distance-based correlation is more robust against the nonunitary evolution compared to the other quantifiers.

MEASUREMENT-INDUCED NONLOCALITY OVER TWO-SIDED PROJECTIVE MEASUREMENTS

Yu Jing Guo

Measurement-induced nonlocality (MIN), introduced by Luo and Fu [Phys. Rev. Lett.106, 120401 (2011)], is a kind of quantum correlation which is different from entanglement and quantum discord (QD). MIN is defined over one-sided projective measurements. In this paper, we introduce a MIN over two-sided projective measurements. The nullity of this two-sided MIN is characterized, a formula for calculating two-sided MIN for pure states is proposed, and a lower bound of (two-sided) MIN for maximally entangled mixed states is given. In addition, we find that (two-sided) MIN is not continuous. Both finite- and infinite-dimensional cases are considered.

Steady-state measurement-induced nonlocality in thermal reservoir

Zhao Li, Yu-Xia Xie

Abstract We examined measurement-induced nonlocality (MIN) of a central system for which every of the constituent qubit is embedded in its respective independent thermal reservoir. By introducing anisotropy to the Heisenberg XY interaction of the qubits, we showed that the strength of the MIN can be enhanced apparently. The anisotropy of the spin interaction can also be employed to generate MIN from the initial zero-MIN states. In the infinite-time limit, the steady-state MIN is independent of the initial states and is determined solely by the anisotropic parameter of the system and the decoherence factor of the thermal reservoir.
