Abstract

With linear optical components to manipulate quantum states of optical fields, the quantum entanglement control and quantum communication can be implemented remotely.By analyzing optical splitter and its use of coherent states,it was found that when the initial state was a direct product of two partially entangled coherent states;another two modes would collapse to a new entangled state using optical splitter and photon-detectors on two modes.Based on this feature, the scheme on entanglement concentration was presented. In this scheme, the two partially entangled coherent states were utilized as the quantum channel, when zero photon and odd photons were detected in two modes separately, and another two modes would collapse to the maximum entangled state, thereby completing the process of the entanglement concentration. It was proved that,no matter how small the initial entanglement is,to distill some maximally entangled states from partially entangled pure states is possible.

By the analysis of the action characteristic of the beam-splitter,presenting a method of generating the single-photon entangled states utilizing optics beam-splitter and single-photon source.A scheme on entanglement concentration of the single-photon entanglement states is designed. In this scheme, the two single-photon partially entangled states are utilized as the quantum channel. The process of the entanglement concentration is achieved by using the 50/50 symmetric beam splitters, the photon detectors and with the help of classical information. Results show that to distill some maximally entangled states from partially entangled pure states is possible by using this method.

Concentrating partial entanglement of two photons via entanglement swapping

Myung-Joong Hwang, Yoon-Ho Kim

We report an entanglement concentration scheme in which a maximally entangled Bell-state can be obtained from two pairs of partially (or non-maximally) entangled photons. Since this scheme is built only upon linear optics and does not require photon-number resolving detectors, it should be applicable in experimental implementations of various quantum information protocols which require maximally entangled Bell-states.

Efficient single-photon-assisted entanglement concentration for partially entangled photon pairs

Yu‐Bo Sheng, Lan Zhou, Shengmei Zhao +1 more

We present two realistic entanglement concentration protocols (ECPs) for pure partially entangled photons. A partially entangled photon pair can be concentrated to a maximally entangled pair with only an ancillary single photon with a certain probability, while the conventional ECPs require two copies of partially entangled pairs at least. Our first protocol is implemented with linear optics and the second protocol is implemented with cross-Kerr-nonlinearities. Compared with other ECPs, they do not need to know the accurate coefficients of the initial state. With linear optics, it is feasible with current experiments. With cross-Kerr-nonlinearities, it does not require sophisticated single-photon detectors and can be repeated to get a higher success probability. Moreover, the second protocol can get the higher entanglement transformation efficiency and it may be the most economical protocol by far. Meanwhile, both protocols are more suitable for multiphoton system concentration because they need less operations and classical communications. All these advantages make the two protocols useful in current long-distance quantum communications.

Quantum Entanglement Concentration Based on Nonlinear Optics for Quantum Communications

Yu‐Bo Sheng, Lan Zhou

Entanglement concentration is of most importance in long distance quantum communication and quantum computation. It is to distill maximally entangled states from pure partially entangled states based on the local operation and classical communication. In this review, we will mainly describe two kinds of entanglement concentration protocols. One is to concentrate the partially entangled Bell-state, and the other is to concentrate the partially entangled W state. Some protocols are feasible in current experimental conditions and suitable for the optical, electric and quantum-dot and optical microcavity systems.

A new optical scheme for teleportation of entangled coherent state

Jie‐Qiao Liao, Kuang Le-Man

We propose a nearly perfect optical scheme for the quantum teleportation of entangled coherent states using optical devices such as nonlinear Kerr media, beam splitters, phase shifters, and photon detectors. Different from those previous schemes, our scheme needs only ``yes'' or `no' measurements of the photon number of the related modes, i.e. nonzero- and zero-photon measurements, while in previous schemes one has to exactly identify the even or odd parity character of the photon numbers detected by detectors.
