Abstract

Quantum key distribution (QKD) provides a way for distribution of secure key in at least two parties which they initially share. And there are many protocols for providing a secure key i.e.BB84 protocol, SARG04 protocol, E91 protocol and many more.In this paper all the concerned protocols that share a secret key is explained and comparative study of all protocols shown.

Study on Quantum Key Distribution

Xiao Qiang Guo, Cui Ling Luo, Yan Yan

Quantum key distribution (QKD) uses quantum mechanics to guarantee secure communication. It enables two parties to produce a shared random secret key known only to them, which can then be used to encrypt and decrypt messages. QKD is a research hotspot of international academia in recent years. We introduce some protocols: BB84 protocol, E91 protocol, SARG04 protocol.

Quantum Key Distribution (QKD): A Review on Technology, Recent Developments and Future Prospects

S. Krithika

Quantum Key Distribution (QKD) provides promising secure communication, the crucial need for online security in Public Key Infrastructure (PKI). QKD is mainly used for distribution of keys securely between two parties and is a commercially available application of Quantum Cryptography (QC). QKD has the ability to enable the authenticated users to detect unwanted attempts by the intruder in trying to gain knowledge of the secret key. Through the fundamental nature of quantum mechanics, in Principle QKD has the distinction of being, unshakable. Quantum cryptography harnesses the counterintuitive behavior of elementary particles such as photons and ensures the confidentiality of information transmitted between two parties. There are many QKD protocols that provide a secure key which include BB84 protocol, BB92 protocol, SARG04 protocol, E91 protocol, COW protocol, DPS protocol ect. In this review the trends and challenges in Quantum Key Distribution is discussed. Also the contribution of QKD towards network security is presented by analyzing its strengths and weakness.

Challenges in Quantum Key Distribution

Kah Wing Hong, Oi-Mean Foong, Tang Jung Low

Quantum computing is essentially exploiting and harnessing the laws of quantum mechanics to process information. With it, rise the era of a new cryptosystem that has the potential to be unconditionally secure which is known as quantum cryptography. Quantum cryptography uses the properties of quantum mechanics to develop an unbreakable cryptosystem that can never be compromised. Quantum key distribution (QKD), which is an area in quantum cryptography, provides a way for distribution of secure key between two parties. Some of the existing QKD protocols include BB84 protocol, B92 protocol, SARG04 protocol, E91 protocol and many more. In this paper, the trends and challenges in Quantum Key Distribution is reviewed.

Advanced Secure Communication: Exploring Quantum Key Distribution, the BB84 Method

Badukuri Hemalatha, Badukuri Premalatha, B. Reddaiah

One promising way to use quantum information to secure everyday communication is through the distribution of quantum keys. By exchanging a secret key, the Quantum Key Distribution (QKD) approach allows two parties to communicate securely.BB84 protocol is among the most well-known QKD protocols. In this protocol, qubits are exchanged via a quantum channel between the sender and the receiver. This enables them to produce a shared key that is impenetrable to eavesdroppers and illustrate the fundamental ideas of QKD using current simulations and implementations. The results of this study demonstrate that the BB84 protocol is a highly secure QKD technique that has been investigated in great detail and used in a variety of contexts. Additionally, over the enhancements made to the BB84 protocol such as the use of advanced error correction techniques and decoy states to increase its security and usability is discussed. With an emphasis on the BB84 protocol in secure communication technologies, this study offers an extensive analysis of QKD systems overall.

Comprehensive Analysis of BB84, A Quantum Key Distribution Protocol

SujayKumar Reddy M, Chandra Mohan B

Quantum Key Distribution (QKD) is a technique that enables secure communication between two parties by sharing a secret key. One of the most well-known QKD protocols is the BB84 protocol, proposed by Charles Bennett and Gilles Brassard in 1984. In this protocol, Alice and Bob use a quantum channel to exchange qubits, allowing them to generate a shared key that is resistant to eavesdropping. This paper presents a comparative study of existing QKD schemes, including the BB84 protocol, and highlights the advancements made in the BB84 protocol over the years. The study aims to provide a comprehensive overview of the different QKD schemes and their strengths and weaknesses and demonstrate QKDs working principles through existing simulations and implementations. Through this study, we show that the BB84 protocol is a highly secure QKD scheme that has been extensively studied and implemented in various settings. Furthermore, we discuss the improvements made to the BB84 protocol to enhance its security and practicality, including the use of decoy states and advanced error correction techniques. Overall, this paper provides a comprehensive analysis of QKD schemes, focusing on the BB84 protocol in secure communication technologies.

Elementary Quantum Key Distribution Study of BB84 and E91 Protocols

Bhavesh B. Prajapati

Quantum Key Distribution (QKD) is a ground-breaking solution to secure communication that uses fundamental quantum mechanics principles to allow for the exchange of cryptographic keys with provable security. BB84 and E91, two of the first and most significant QKD systems, presented two different approaches to using quantum characteristics to prevent eavesdropping and maintain confidentiality. A brief literature review of these two fundamental protocols is presented in this paper. Bennett and Brassard created the BB84 protocol in 1984. It uses polarized photons and detects interception using the uncertainty principle. On the other hand, Bell's theorem and entangled photon pairs are used in the E91 protocol, which was first presented by Ekert in 1991, to guarantee the integrity of the shared key. Each protocol's theoretical foundations, methods of implementation, and relative benefits has been explored in addition to how they have influenced contemporary quantum cryptography systems. This paper attempts to give a basic understanding of QKD and its early advancements by examining the similarities and differences between BB84 and E91.
