The three-photon resonant nondegenerate six-wave mixing via quantum interference in the middle level

孙江 Sun Jiang, Sun Juan, Ying Wang +2 more

We study the quantum interference in three-photon resonant nondegenerate six-wave mixing (NSWM) of a five-level system in which the middle level of six-wave mixing and other levels are coupled by a strong laser field. The coupling field-dependence of the NSWM signal intensity, and the spectrum of the NSWM with a coupling field, are discussed. We find that in the presence of a strong coupling field, the three-photon resonant NSWM spectrum exhibits Autler-Townes splitting, which reflects the levels of the dressed states. It also leads to either suppression or enhancement of the NSWM signal. Due to the enhancement of NSWM signal caused by quantum interference, the dressed state created by a coupling field can replace the atom intrinsic level and serve as the middle level of three-photon resonance. Thus the middle level of three-photon resonance can be controlled by a coupling field.

Stark effect in a hydrogen atom subjected to a strong resonant wave

Mikhail Vladimirovich Fedorov

An analysis is made of the Stark effect in a hydrogen atom subjected to a static electric field and the field of a strong resonant electromagnetic wave. It is shown that the resonant interaction modifies the linear (with respect to the static field intensity) splitting of the atomic levels and gives rise to a quadratic shift of sublevels.

Alkali metal atomic transition probability in strong external magnetic field and its application

Claude Leroy, G. Hakhumyan, Y. Pashayan-Leroy +1 more

Interaction of alkali atoms with external magnetic field induced a splitting and a shift of their energy levels. We have studied this interaction for external field from 0 to 5000 Gauss when the alkali vapor is confined in submicron thin vapor cell with thickness L = λ /2. Rubidium and Sodium vapors have been studied. The Hamiltonian can be expressed as the sum of the unperturbated atomic Hamiltonian and the so-called Zeeman Hamiltonian. The probability of a transition, induced by the laser electric field is proportional to the square of the transfer coefficients modified by the presence of the magnetic field. We will show that the strong nonlinearity of the transition intensities versus the external magnetic field intensity is obvious for B > 100 G. Some possible applications for Laser Spectroscopy of the Rb and the Na atoms are presented.
