Two-color resonant four-wave-mixing radiation is generated between the 5D5/2 and 5P3/2 excited states in atomic rubidium vapor using atomic coherence via Doppler-free EIT and two-photon absorption mechanisms, and studied in the frequency domain.
Four-wave-mixing (FWM) radiation is generated between the hyperfine structures of the 5D and 5P states in a thermally broadened rubidium atomic vapor using resonant atomic coherence. Background-free unidirectional signals having narrow spectral linewidths are isolated and experimentally studied in the frequency domain, and the effects of the driving beam parameters on the properties of the radiation are discussed. The radiation has several new properties compared to traditional FWM radiations generated between the 5P and 5S states. The high-resolution signals obtained in this method could make it favorable in spectroscopic procedures that rely on two-photon fluorescence.
We report a study on the transfer of intensity correlation properties in frequency upconversion via four-wave mixing (FWM) in rubidium (Rb) vapor. The 5S1/2−5P3/2−5D5/2 two-photon transition in Rb85 leads to collimated blue light (CBL) generation at 420 nm by absorbing two input photons of wavelengths 780 nm and 776 nm. The g(2)(τ) intensity correlation measurement of the CBL field reveals that the intensity correlations of the input fields are transferred to the CBL field due to strong atomic coherence in the FWM loop. We also demonstrate that the measured values of g(2)(τ) of the CBL field are reduced by the effect of Doppler broadening of Rb vapor.
We study the generation of radiation at the 5P3/2‐4S1/2 transition of potassium vapor under excitation of the 4S1/2‐6S1/2 two‐photon resonance. The model consists of the coupled Maxwell‐Bloch equations for a four‐level configuration of Potassium atom including states 4S, 4P, 5P and 6S, which is numerically solved. Previous experimental studies have shown the emission of Parametric Four‐Wave Mixing (PFWM) radiation near the 5P3/2‐4S1/2 transition at low vapor pressures (P<1014 atoms/cm3) which is also shown in the case of the model studied.
