Wave Mechanics

Donard de Cogan

The material of the previous chapter has set out the foundations of quantum mechanics. It has been shown that a particle has wave character. Once this is accepted, it becomes possible to use Fourier synthesis to construct a hypothetica particle. Since matter has been shown to have wave-like properties and since it is possible to define it by means of the superposition of component waves, it follows that it should be possible to use the mathematical tools which are available for treating wave motion. This forms the basis of wave mechanics.

Erwin Schrouml Dinger, the Nobel winner,is a versatile person, who is not only a physician, but also a philosopher and poet. His versatility and eminent achievements, especially his persistent pursue of the aesthetics of mathematics and his creation of wave mechanics, not only bring great and profound influence on development of physics in 21st century, but also set a glorious example for promoting quality-oriented education mode which combines science and humanities in high institutions nowadays.
