We present a new setup in which we near-deterministically separate all four photon Bell states by means of linearly concatenated Mach-Zehnder interferometers. Realistic proposals for implementations are given.
We discuss a scheme for a full superdense coding of entangled photon states employing only linear optics elements. By using the mixed basis consisting of four states that are unambiguously distinguishable by a standard and polarizing beam splitters we can deterministically transfer four messages by manipulating just one of the two entangled photons. The sender achieves the determinism of the transfer either by giving up the control over 50% of sent messages (although known to her) or by discarding 33% of incoming photons.
To completely distinguish the four Bell States is the key of Quantum teleportation. Now by insing linear optics methods,we can not perform complete Bell measurement.Based on the method of two photon quantum teleportation which uses Mach-Zehnder interferometer,we propose a scheme which can completely make the Bell measurement in the quantum teleportation experiment in upper dimension space.Through the introduction of the reference of beam we can stabilize the interferometer′s phase automatically. The scheme is used in the 16km free space quantum teleportation experiment.
In this paper, we propose an optical scheme to generate four-mode W -type entangled coherent states (ECSs) in free travelling optical fields by using a single-photon source, coherent state sources, beam splitters, photodetectors and cross-Kerr media. Our scheme consists of a symmetric optical setup in which there are two Mach–Zehnder interferometers in which each arm contains a cross-Kerr medium. We calculate the average fidelity of generated W -type ECSs, the success probability of producing four-mode W -type ECSs and the average fidelity of the generated four-mode W -type ECSs. It is indicated that our protocol is nearly deterministic.
We propose a curious protocol for swapping the intraphoton entanglement between path and polarization degrees of freedom of a single photon to interphoton entanglement between two distance photons that have never interacted. This is accomplished by using an experimental setup consisting of three suitable Mach-Zehnder interferometers along with number of beam splitters, polarization rotators, and detectors. Using the same setup, we have also demonstrated an interesting quantum state transfer protocol, symmetric between Alice and Bob. Importantly, the Bell-basis discrimination is not required in both the swapping and state transfer protocols. Our proposal can be implemented using linear optical devices.
