In this paper, we propose a secure two-factor remote user authentication protocol using Elliptic curve cryptography. The proposed protocol provides the mutual authentication of participants, session key agreement and user anonymity. The security of our proposed protocol is based on one way hash function and elliptic curve cryptosystem and it is secure against all relevant security attacks. Compared with other relevant protocol, the security analysis and performance evaluation show that our proposed protocol can provide high level of security with less communication and computation cost. In addition, the BAN logic is applied to demonstrate the validity of the proposed protocol.

In this article, the authors have proposed a secure two-factor remote user authentication and session key agreement protocol. As they have shown in the presented scheme, is precise and secure according to both formal and informal security analysis. For formal security analysis, they have applied BAN (Burrows-Abadi-Needham) logic which certifies that the presented scheme provides the amenity of mutual authentication and session key agreement safely. The informal security verification has shown that the proposed scheme is more vigorous against various sort of cruel threats. Moreover, the authors have simulated the presented scheme using broadly accepted AVISPA tool, whose simulation results make sure that the protocol is not dangerous from active and passive attacks together with replay and man-in-the-middle attacks. In addition, the performance evaluation and the security comparison have revealed that the presented scheme gives strong security as well as better complexity in the context of smart card memory requirement, communication cost and computation cost.
Authenticated key agreement protocol is designed to provide pair of parties communicating over an insecure network with a secure session key. However, most of the existing authenticated key agreement protocols are not designed for protecting privacy. We emphasize user's privacy properties in network services,in particular we stress anonymity and deniability. We specify the desired security properties of privacy-enhancing authentication key agreement protocols,i.e.mutual authentication, key control, key confirmation,session-key confidentiality,known-key security, forward secrecy, anonymity of user, forward anonymity of user, unlinkability, deniability.Based on elliptic curve cryptosystem we also propose a protocol which satisfies all the desired security properties.
Unlike traditional power networks, the smart grid power system has the ability to arrange the power supply in real time to the customer for active power consumption. Therefore, it can avoid excess electricity generation. In addition, based on the current power consumption, the power service providers can measure the expected power generation amount to stabilize the power system. Compared with traditional power networks, the characteristics of the smart grid power system make it easier to suffer from several types of security threats and attacks such as impersonation, eavesdropping and message modification etc. In order to strength the security of smart grid networks, a robust and efficient authentication protocol should provide to mutual authentication and session key agreement. Since the communications between the control center and the substation is protected by the Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition system, we focus on the secure communication between the substation and the smart appliances. In this paper, a robust and efficient authentication protocol based on elliptic curve cryptography is proposed to achieve mutual authentication and key agreement between the substation and the smart appliances. In addition, the proposed protocol not only resists replay attacks, impersonation attacks, and man-in-middle attacks, but also provides the session key security and the known-key security.
Telecare Medicine Information System enables patients to get healthcare services at home expediently and efficiently. Authentication and key agreement protocol suited for TMIS protect patient's privacy via the unsecure network. Recently, numerous protocols have been proposed intend to safeguard the communication between patients and server. However, most of them have high computation overhead and security problems. In this paper, we aim to propose a secure and effective authentication and key agreement protocol using smartcard and password for TMIS. The protocol is based on elliptic curve cryptography. Through security analysis we illustrate that our protocol is secure to resist some known attacks and provide user anonymity. Furthermore, by comparing with other related protocols we show our protocol is superior in security and performance aspects.
In this modern era, the need for key agreement protocols equipped with high-speed Internet has become necessary in information/network security. An authenticated key agreement (AKA) protocol is a technique that negotiates a secret session key among various users in a network and is used in many scenarios like mutual authentication, data integrity, and many more. The current state-of-the-art include many AKA protocols that are either vulnerable to different attacks or incur massive communication and computational costs. This paper proposes an identity-based three-party authenticated key agreement (ID-3PAKA) protocol using elliptic curve cryptography (ECC). The proposed ID-3PAKA protocol generates a shared secret session key among three users. The security of the proposed ID-3PAKA protocol relies on the hardness assumption of the ECDLP and the CDH problems. The proposed ID-3PAKA protocol is safe against active and passive attacks, which is proved through the simulation of the OFMC and Cl-AtS back-ends of the AVISPA tool.
With the rise of the Internet of Things (IoT), maintaining data confidentiality and protecting user privacy have become increasingly challenging. End devices in the IoT are often deployed in unattended environments and connected to open networks, making them vulnerable to physical tampering and other security attacks. Different authentication key agreement (AKA) schemes have been used in practice; several of them do not cover the necessary security features or are incompatible with resource-constrained end devices. Their security proofs have been performed under the Random-Oracle model. We present an AKA protocol for end devices and servers. The proposal leverages the ECC-based key exchange mechanism and one-way hash function-based message authentication method to achieve mutual authentication, user anonymity, and forward security. A formal security proof of the proposed scheme is performed under the standard model and the eCK model with the elliptic curve encryption computational assumptions, and formal verification is performed with ProVerif. According to the performance comparison, it is revealed that the proposed scheme offers user anonymity, perfect forward security, and mutual authentication, and resists typical attacks such as ephemeral secret leakage attacks, impersonation attacks, man-in-the-middle attacks, and key compromise impersonation attacks. Moreover, the proposed scheme has the lowest computational and communication overhead compared to existing schemes.
