Dynamics of the entanglement witness for three qubits in common environment

Abstract

In the measurement-based model of quantum computing, a one-way quantum computer consisting of many qubits can be immersed in a common environment as a simple decoherence mechanism. This paper studies the dynamics of entanglement witness for 3-qubit cluster states in the common environment. The result shows that environment can induce an interesting feature in the time evolution of the entanglement witness: i.e., the periodical collapse and revival of the entanglement dynamics.

Qubit-environment entanglement in pure dephasing dynamics for mixed initial states

Małgorzata Strzałka, Nico Peters, Laura Ares +2 more

Decoherence of qubits is one main limitation in quantum information processing, where the qubits themselves can be mixed because of decoherence and additional decoherence may generated through interactions with a bath. Here, we present a complete study of qubit-environment entanglement in the case of interactions that lead to pure dephasing of the qubit by allowing the initial state of the qubit to be mixed, exceeding previous restrictions. We find that the criteria for separability that hold for pure initial states of the qubit are reduced to witness status. Yet, the evolution of the witnesses reflects the array of features that entanglement can exhibit in the mixed case but are forbidden in the pure-qubit case. Most notably, this includes sudden birth of entanglement as the initial phase of the evolution is typically separable. Moreover, there is a stark numerical advantage to the study of entanglement for large environments when using the witness rather than the traditional measures available. We include the study of entanglement generated between a spin qubit and a sparse spin environment to illustrate the peculiarities of the evolution of entanglement in this case, as well as to emphasize the level of reliability of the entanglement witness.

Evolution of entanglement

Marco Merkli, G. P. Berman, F. Borgonovi +1 more

We analyze the dynamics of entanglement between two qubits which interact through collective and local environments. Our approach is based on a resonance theory which assumes a small interaction between qubits and environments and which gives rigorous perturbation theory results, valid for all times. We obtain expressions for (i) characteristic time-scales for decoherence, relaxation, disentanglement, and for (ii) the evolution of observables, valid uniformly in time $t\geq 0$. We introduce a classification of decoherence times based on clustering of the reduced density matrix elements, persisting on all time-scales. We examine characteristic dynamical properties such as creation, death and revival of entanglement. We discuss possible applications of our results for superconducting quantum computation and quantum measurement technologies.

Dynamics of quantum correlation for three qubits in hierarchical environment

Yue Song, Jun‐Qi Li, Liang Jiu-Qing

Much attention has been paid to the dynamics of quantum correlation in an open quantum system coupled to a single-layered environment for a long time. However, the system can be influenced by the multilayer environment or hierarchical environment in realistic scenarios, which is attracting increasing interest at present. In this context, we explore in this paper the dynamics of quantum correlation for a quantum system consisting of three independent qubits, each being immersed in a single mode lossy cavity which is further connected to another cavity. The influences of cavity-cavity coupling strength Ω and the decay rate of cavity Γ1 on the measures of quantum correlation, including negativity, Bell non-locality as well as entanglement witness, are investigated in detail in a strong coupling regime and a weak coupling regime. It is shown that the phenomena of sudden death and sudden birth can happen to both Bell non-locality and entanglement witness. When the decay rate Γ1 = 0 is given, with the increase of Ω these measures eventually reach their stationary values over time after a short period of damping oscillations, in which these stationary values will become larger for the larger Ω. At the same time, the values or the survival times of quantum correlation considered by us in the weak coupling regime are better than in the strong coupling case. In addition, the non-zero Γ1 has a great negative effect on quantum correlation. Hence, in order to suppress the loss of quantum correlation better, the effective manipulation of quantum weak measurement and measurement reversal operator is considered further. Some interesting results are obtained.

Decoherence in time evolution of bound entanglement

Sun, Z, Gao, Y B, Sun, C P +1 more

We study a dynamic process of disentanglement by considering the time evolution of bound entanglement for a quantum open system, two qutrits coupling to a common environment. Here, the initial quantum correlations of the two qutrits are characterized by the bound entanglement. In order to show the universality of the role of environment on bound entanglement, both bosonic and spin environments are considered. We found that the bound entanglement displays collapses and revivals, and it can be stable against small temperature and time change. The thermal fluctuation effects on bound entanglement are also considered.

Dynamics of two qubits in common environment

E. N. Bratus’, Leonid Andreevich Pastur

We consider the entanglement evolution of two qubits embedded into disordered multiconnected environment. We model the environment and its interaction with qubits by large random matrices allowing for a possibility to describe environments of meso- and even nanosize. We obtain general formulas for the time dependent reduced density matrix of the qubits corresponding to several cases of the qubit-environment interaction and initial condition. We then work out an analog of the Born–Markov approximation to find the evolution of the widely used entanglement quantifiers: the concurrence, the negativity and the quantum discord. We show that even in this approximation the time evolution of the reduced density matrix can be non-Markovian, thereby describing certain memory effects due to the backaction of the environment on qubits. In particular, we find the vanishing of the entanglement (Entanglement Sudden Death) at finite moments and its revivals (Entanglement Sudden Birth). Our results, partly known and partly new, can be viewed as a manifestation of the universality of certain properties of decoherent qubit evolution which have been found previously in various versions of bosonic macroscopic environment.

Entanglement dynamics and decoherence of three-qubit system in a fermionic environment

XIAO SAN MA, An Min Wang, Xiao Dong Yang +1 more

We study the entanglement dynamics of the three-qubit system in a symmetry-broken environment consisting of a fermionic bath. Decoherence induced by the bath is analysed. We find that the entanglement of states will decrease or remain unchanged under the system–bath interaction. The class of decoherence-free states of the three-qubit system of our model has been found out.
