We report experiments on the observation of the 1 S 0 -3 P 0 transition spectrum of 88 Sr in the Lamb-Dicke regime.After going through a two-stage magneto-optical trap (MOT), 88 Sr cold atoms with number of about 1 × 10 5 and a longitudinal temperature of 8.4 μK are loaded into a one-dimensional (1D) optical lattice, which is realized with a semiconductor laser at 813.4 nm.Using the magnetic field-inducing 3 P 1 state mixing into 3 P 0 state, the spectroscopy of the 1 S 0 -3 P 0 transition with a linewidth of 180 Hz is detected.

First spectroscopy of the 1S0 →3P0 transition in Lamb-Dicke confined magnesium atoms

A. P. Kulosa, Steffen Rühmann, Klaus Zipfel +4 more

104magnesium atoms have been trapped in an optical lattice at the predicted magic wavelength of 469 nm. The trap depth of the lattice sites is 16 Ercorresponding to a Lamb-Dicke parameter of η = 0.51. The temperature of atoms in the lattice is 10 μK. We performed magnetic field-induced spectroscopy on the strongly spin-forbidden clock transition and observed for the first time a 50 kHz broad carrier signal together with a 80 kHz broad red sideband.

Observation of transitions in strontium triplet state and its application in optical clock

Gao Feng, Wang Ye-Bing, Tian Xiao +2 more

In this paper we present a method of observing triplet state transitions of strontium. The intercombination transition is employed to pump the atom population from singlet-state (5s2)1S0 to triplet-state (5s5p)3P1 by a laser at 689 nm. Then 688 nm laser is also employed to divide atom population into the two other triplet-state states (5s5p)3P0 and (5s5p)3PP2. We can obtain the absorption signals of triplet-state transition (5s6s)3S1 → (5s5p)3P0 and (5s6p)3S1 → (5s5p)3P3P2. And these atomic absorption signals can be used for stabilizing the repumping light 679 nm and 707 nm directly to transition line of strontium. This method can be used in the Doppler cooling of strontium atoms.
