Quantum Circuits with Classically Simulable Operator Scrambling

Mike Blake, Noah Linden

We introduce a new family of quantum circuits for which the scrambling of a subspace of nonlocal operators is classically simulable. We call these circuits "super-Clifford circuits" since the Heisenberg time evolution of these operators corresponds to Clifford evolution in operator space. Thus we are able to classically simulate the time evolution of certain single Pauli strings into operators with operator entanglement that grows linearly with the number of qubits. These circuits provide a new technique for studying scrambling in systems with a large number of qubits, and are an explicit counter example to the intuition that classical simulability implies the absence of scrambling.

QOLE: A Browser-Native Quantum Circuit Simulator Based on Decision Diagrams

Asimakis Kydros, Konstantinos P. Prousalis, Vasilis Skarlatos +1 more

The classical simulation of quantum circuits is inherently constrained by the exponential growth of the quantum state. Strategies based on decision diagrams, such as the Quantum Multiple-valued Decision Diagram structure, exploit regularities in the tensor descriptions of quantum operators and states to mitigate this limitation. This paper presents QOLE, a browser-compatible simulator for quantum circuits, that utilizes these diagrams in its implementation. QOLE offers a simple and intuitive high-level programming interface for building circuits, while its internal diagram-based compiler maps quantum gates and state vectors into compact graphs that enable more efficient simulation. The open implementation of QOLE demonstrates how diagram-based simulation can be made accessible within the constraints of modern web execution environments.

QuaCiDe: A General Purpose Quantum Circuit Design and Simulation Interface

Asimakis Kydros, Konstantinos P. Prousalis, Nikos Konofaos

A circuit design interface for simulation of quantum circuits is presented. This simple but powerful tool aims to enable and improve experimentation in the field of quantum computing, either for professional or amateur usage. It provides an intuitive, automated, easy-to-use environment for building algorithms using the circuit model of quantum computation, while freeing the experimenter from technical procedures, such as coding or program installations. It provides a wide range of tools to the user, from a universal gate-set, to custom gate definitions, post-selected measurements, complex compositions of sub-circuits in a recursive way, good modularity and nice output results. Moreover, it is combined with popular backend simulators due to its circuit-parsing capabilities.
