Emission Spectrum Property of Modulated Atom-Field Coupling System

Abstract

The emission spectrum of a two-level atom interacting with a single mode radiation field in the case of periodic oscillation coupling coefficient is investigated. A general expression for the emission spectrum is derived. The numerical results for the initial field in pure number stare are calculated. It is found that the effect of the coupling coefficient modulation on the spectral structure is very obvious in the case of a low modulation frequency and larger amplitude when the initial field is vacuum, which is potentially useful for exploring a modulated light source.

Emission spectrum of a pair of two-level atoms in a cavity

Lei Xu, Zhi‐Ming Zhang, Zhenfei Luo

The emission spectrum of a pair of two-level atoms interacting with a single mode of radiation field in an ideal cavity is investigated, where the interaction of each atom with the field may be different. A general expression for the emission spectrum is presented and the spectrum is studied numerically when the radiation field is initially in the vacuum state, pure number state and squeezed-vacuum state, respectively. The effects of the ratio of two coupling constants (R=g 2 /g 1 ) on the emission spectrum are discussed. In contrast with the spectrum of a one-atom system, the spectrum of a two-atom system is much more complicated. Generally, the emission spectrum shows a 12-peak structure for the vacuum state and 16-peak structure for the pure number state. For the squeezed-vacuum state, it is found that the Rabi splitting is most apparent when R=1.

Multiphoton emission spectrum of two atoms interacting with two modes of radiation field

Jian Feng, Song Tong-Qiang, Wenzheng Wang +1 more

The multiphoton emission spectrum of a pair of coupling two-level atoms interacting with two modes of the radiation field is studied. A general expression for the two-mode multiphoton emission spectrum is presented. The non-degenerate two-photon emission spectra of two atoms are calculated when the two modes of the field are in various number states and some new results are obtained. It is found that the two-atom emission spectrum in the two-mode vacuum field reflects the atomic dipole-dipole interaction more sensitively than in the case of a single-mode vacuum field.

Effect of cavity dissipation on the emission spectrum of an atom interacting with a field in the dispersive approximation

Haijun Wang, Gao Yun-feng

The emission spectrum of a two-level atom interacting dispersively with a single mode radiation field in the dissipative cavity is investigated. A general expression for the emission spectrum is derived. The numerical results for the initial field in coherent state are calculated. It is found that the spectrum structure is influenced significantly by the cavity damping constant κ, and the spectrum structure is dependent on the interaction time T when the cavity dissipation is present. Only one peak located at ω a appears in the atomic spectra for larger T.

Emission spectrum of two atoms interacting with two modes of the cavity field with different coupling constants through a multiphoton Raman process

Jian Feng, Song Tong-Qiang, Gao Yun-feng

The emission spectrum of a pair of effective two-level atoms interacting with two modes of the radiation field with different coupling constants through a multiphoton Raman process is studied. A general expression for the emission spectrum with two modes of the field being in arbitrary states is presented. Our results show that when two modes of the field are in arbitrary number states, the spectrum is always symmetric about the resonant frequency , although the Hamiltonian of the system is asymmetric which is induced by the two different atom-field coupling constants. This property is analysed with an analytic method.

Atom and quantum oscillator coupled by the vacuum field: Radiation pattern, emission spectrum, and decay dynamics

P. R. Berman, C. H. Raymond Ooi

We study the dynamics of a system consisting of a two-level atom and a quantum oscillator coupled by the vacuum radiation field. The oscillator and the atom are assumed to have the same resonance frequency. In contrast to the two-atom or two-oscillator case, the atom-oscillator system leads to an unclosed hierarchy of equations for the operators that determine the radiation pattern emitted by the atom-oscillator system. Instead of using the operator equations, we formulate the problem in terms of density-matrix equations which can be solved once the initial conditions are specified. As an example, we looked at the radiation pattern, the decay dynamics, and the spectrum for an initial condition in which the oscillator is in its $n=1$ state and the atom is in its excited state. Dressed states (dressed by the static interaction between the atom and oscillator) prove to be especially useful for interpreting the results and comparing them with the two-atom and two-oscillator systems. All calculations are carried out using the resonance or rotating-wave approximation. The relationship of our work to damped Jaynes-Cummings models is noted.

Cavity Field Spectra of Two Different Atoms Interacting with Two-mode Field

Guiming Zhang, Gao Yun-feng

The cavity field spectrum of two atoms interacting with two-mode fields with different coupling constants(g_1≠g_2) was studied.By solving the eigen equation, the cavity field spectrum expression of the system was given out. Some numerical results for the fields in pure number state and the atoms in the upper level were presented initially. The effects of the relative coupling constant R=g_2/g_1 or photon number on the spectrum structure were analyzed. It is found that R plays a different role in the spectrum with field in vacuum state, weak state and strong state. The frequency of one mode field spectrum is tuned by the intensity of the other mode. The frequencies of two modes spectra can be changed by the relative coupling constant.
