Abstract

We have set up a new reduced model Hamiltonian for the polariton system, in which the nonlinear interaction contains the rotating term k 1 (a + b + ab + ) and the attractive two-mode squeezed coupling −k 2 (a + b + +ab). The dynamical evolution of this system has been solved and the nonclassical features relevant to the second-order and high-order squeezing have been obtained in an analytical form. For the first time, in contrast to the existing result, we have confirmed for the phonon field that the attractive two-mode squeezed interaction will not only result in the second-order and high-order squeezing in X-component with the time evolution, but also in time average. Furthermore, the phenomena of collapse and revival of inversion will occur as well in the time evolution of the average number of photon and phonon, as also in the second-order and high-order squeezing of photon field, particularly, in the high-order squeezing of phonon field.

The time-revolution of the quantum fluctuation and the nonclassical statistical behavior for the polariton system

YU Xiao-min, Liang Guo-Dong, Yanhua Zhong +1 more

In this paper, we have considered the polariton system described by the model effective Hamiltonian involving a single-mode photon field interacting with a transverse optical phonon in a more realistic form. On this basis, the dynamical evolution of the polariton system, and the quantum fluctuation and the non-classical properties for this system have been investigated in an analytic form. By the nonlinear interactions of the system, when the radiation field was initially in the coherent state and the polarization wave field in the vacuum state, the radiation field and the phonon field can be developed to the squeezed state with time evolution and their second-order squeezing oscillates with time evolution in a complex periodical form. When k1=0 or k2=0, the squeezed effects do not occur. The non-classical properties are determined by the nonlinear coupling of the system and depend on the existence of the k1 and k2 terms simultaneously. At the same time, it is shown that the new results indicate that the statistical distribution of the photon and phonon can oscillate between super-Poisson and sub-Poisson distribution with time evolution, the nonlinear terms k1(a++) and k2(a+b++ab) have contributions to the non-classical statistical feature.

Higher-Order Squeezing of a Generic Quadratically-Coupled Optomechanical System

Kousik Mukherjee, Paresh Chandra Jana

Using short-time dynamics and analytical solution of Heisenberg equation of motion for the Hamiltonian of quadratically-coupled optomechanical system for different field modes, we have investigated the existence of higher-order single mode squeezing, sum squeezing and difference squeezing in absence of driving and dissipation.Depth of squeezing increases with order number for higher-order single mode squeezing.Squeezing factor exhibits a series of revival-collapse phenomena for single mode, which becomes more pronounced as order number increases. In case of sum squeezing amounts of squeezing is greater than single mode higher-order squeezing (n = 2).It is also greater than from difference squeezing for same set of interaction parameters.Sum squeezing is prominently better for extracting information regarding squeezing.

Time-evolution of nonlinear optomechanical systems: interplay of mechanical squeezing and non-Gaussianity

Sofia Qvarfort, Alessio Serafini, André Xuereb +3 more

Abstract We solve the time evolution of a nonlinear optomechanical Hamiltonian with arbitrary time-dependent mechanical displacement, mechanical single-mode squeezing and a time-dependent optomechanical coupling up to the solution of two second-order differential equations. The solution is based on identifying a minimal and finite Lie algebra that generates the time-evolution of the system. This reduces the problem to considering a finite set of coupled ordinary differential equations of real functions. To demonstrate the applicability of our method, we compute the degree of non-Gaussianity of the time-evolved state of the system by means of a measure based on the relative entropy of the non-Gaussian state and its closest Gaussian reference state. We find that the addition of a constant mechanical squeezing term to the standard optomechanical Hamiltonian generally decreases the overall non-Gaussian character of the state. For sinusoidally modulated squeezing, the two second-order differential equations mentioned above take the form of the Mathieu equation. We derive perturbative solutions for a small squeezing amplitude at parametric resonance and show that they correspond to the rotating-wave approximation at times larger than the scale set by the mechanical frequency. We find that the non-Gaussianity of the state increases with both time and the squeezing parameter in this specific regime.

Quantum properties of kerr nonlinear directional couplers via phase-space representation / Rafael Julius

Rafael Julius

Quantum statistical properties of interacting optical fields in Kerr nonlinear couplers may be regarded as one of the most fundamental problems yet to be solved in quantum optics. As an analytical solution to this system is not always possible, a semi-analytic or direct numerical solution must be employed in order to obtain a more complete description of their evolution. This study investigates the quantum properties of four-mode couplers composed of two and four Kerr nonlinear waveguides, both with and without cavity set up via phase space representation. In these systems, the electromagnetic fields are described by their Hamiltonians, while the time-evolution of the systems are described by the Von-Neumann equation. Following standard techniques, the master equations for the density matrices of the systems are obtained and further converted to the corresponding classical Fokker- Planck equations using both positive P and Wigner representations. The corresponding set of Langevin Stochastic equations is then obtained from the Fokker-Planck equations by means of Ito rules. Finally, the systems are integrated numerically and averaged over many trajectories to get the relevant information. The effects of self-action nonlinearity, cross-action coupling and the initial energy of the coherent light on the evolution of the field quadrature variances are investigated. Furthermore, the influences of multimode interaction on the dynamics of the squeezed states are discussed. In this research, we show that the system may produce squeezed states in both quadrature variances for all calculated parameters. The multimode two channel model can provide better squeezing in contrast to the conventional device. The amplitude oscillation of maximal squeezing may be amplified by manipulation of the initial state of the coherent light in the first mode, and the range may be extended through multimode interaction. When the model is contained in a cavity, the system is able to generate better amplitude oscillations and squeezing range with leaf-revival-collapse-like behaviour; with the whole oscillation able to evolute below the standard quantum limit Regular photon transition and self trapping effects of the interacting modes in the four channels model are simulated, and squeezing is predicted for various initial intensities of the coherent field and nonlinear coupling parameter g. The cavity setup caused the system to undergo fluctuation amplification and the potential for different types of squeezing to be generated is observed. Depending on how we choose the interaction parameter values, the system may generate better squeezing in comparison to the cavity-less model.

Multiphoton model for the interaction of single-mode squeezed-state light with a two-level atom

Shaozheng Jin

Multiphoton interaction of single-mode squeezed-state light and a two-level atom is considered based on the K-photon Jaynes–Cummings model. Time evolution of quantum fluctuation and photon statistical properties of the initial squeezing light are discussed. It is found that through interaction with a two-level atom, larger squeezing levels cannot be achieved in one-photon or multiphoton processes. For photon antibunching behavior of the light field, it is shown that a smaller initial squeezing level and an appropriately larger coherent part of the initial average photon number of the radiation field favor the generation of this nonclassical behavior, especially in the lower-order interaction processes.
