Abstract

Abstract:A low-delay loop detection algorithm for bit-flipping based iteration LDPC decoding is proposed.By introducing the concept of loop characteristic, only the iteration steps with loop characteristics are detected and labeled for the subsequent loop detection. As a result, computation delay is greatly reduced.Furthermore, the position vector for the selected iteration steps is also established to implement loop detection for these iteration steps, which reduces the hardware cost of the loop detection as well. The validity of the proposed algorithm is verified by simulations.

Hybrid weighted bit-flipping decoding algorithm for LDPC codes

Gaoqi Dou

To reduce loop-oscillation errors occurring in the weighted bit-flipping algorithm,a hybrid weighted bit-flipping decoding algorithm for low-density parity-check(LDPC) codes is proposed. The proposed algorithm updates multiple bits in each iteration,a random perturbation is added when the loop oscillation is detected which could reduce loop-oscillation errors by changing objective function. And these errors are analyzed from the mathematic perspective.Simulation results and complexity comparison show that the proposed algorithm achieves an appealing tradeoff among performance, convergence and complexity for structured LDPC codes compared with the best known weighted bit-flipping decoding algorithm.

Loop Detection Based on Bit-Flipping Decoding Algorithm for LDPC Codes

Zhong Xun Wang, Fang Qiang Zhu, Li Liu +1 more

In this paper, we introduce a new bit-flipping decoding algorithm for low-density parity-check codes based on loop detection mechanism, which is an extension to soft-decision decoding. This decoding algorithm's performance has been significantly improved by introducing a loop detection mechanism for the failed flipping bit and leading into the soft-decision about the reliability measure of the received symbols. Theoretical analysis shows that the complexity of this algorithm is lower. Some simulation results are given, which show that compared with other known kinds of bit-flipping decoding algorithms for LDPC codes, this new decoding on the additive white Gaussian noise channel offer excellent performance.

A Modified Bit-Flipping Decoding Algorithm for Low-Density Parity-Check Codes

Telex M. N. Ngatched, Fambirai Takawira, Martin Bossert

In this paper, a modified bit-flipping decoding algorithm for low-density parity-check (LDPC) codes is proposed. Both improvement in performance and reduction in decoding delay are observed by flipping multiple bits in each iteration. Our studies show that the proposed algorithm achieves an appealing tradeoff between performance and complexity for many constructions of LDPC codes.

Improved parallel weighted bit-flipping decoding algorithm for LDPC codes

Guanchang Li, G. Feng

Aiming at seeking a low-complexity decoder with fast decoding convergence speed for short or medium low-density parity-check (LDPC) codes, an improved parallel weighted bit-flipping (IPWBF) algorithm, which is applied flexibly for two classes of codes is presented here. For LDPC codes with low column weight in their parity check matrix, both bootstrapping and loop detection procedures, described in the existing literature, are included in IPWBF. Furthermore, a novel delay-handling procedure is introduced to prevent the codeword bits of high reliability from being flipped too hastily. For large column weight finite geometry LDPC codes, only the delay-handling procedure is included in IPWBF to show its effectiveness. Extensive simulation results demonstrate that the proposed algorithm achieves a good tradeoff between performance and complexity.

A Decoding Algorithm for Finite-Geometry LDPC Codes

We develop a new low-complexity algorithm to decode low-density parity-check (LDPC) codes. The developments are oriented specifically toward low cost, yet effective, decoding of (high-rate) finite-geometry LDPC codes. The decoding procedure iteratively updates the hard-decision received vector in search of a valid codeword in the vector space. Only one bit is changed in each iteration, and the bit-selection criterion combines the number of failed checks and the reliability of the received bits. Prior knowledge of the signal amplitude and noise power is not required. An optional mechanism to avoid infinite loops in the search is also proposed. Our studies show that the algorithm achieves an appealing tradeoff between performance and complexity for finite-geometry LDPC codes.
